AccountantPosition Purpose

Responsible for various Accounting Department functions, including sales tax filings, fixed assets, and maintenance and reconciliation of various general ledger accounts


Accountant Essential Functions

  • Communicates and supports the Kirby Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One Goal
  • Accurately records and maintains financial transactions in accordance with accounting standards
  • Prepares and reviews journal entries, reconciles general ledger accounts, and generates financial statements
  • Assists with month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Reconciles cash, fixed assets, and reserve accounts, ensuring transaction accuracy and completeness
  • Manages and coordinates the renewal of company business licenses
  • Assists with sales tax filings, audits, and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Supports audits and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Analyzes financial data to identify trends, variances, and discrepancies for informed decision-making
  • Ensures adherence to internal financial policies and external regulatory standards
  • Collaborates with other departments to facilitate efficient financial operations
  • Consistent and reliable on-site attendance
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and resolve problems independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook


Accountant Physical Requirements



  • Seeing, Hearing/Listening, Clear Speech, Touching (Dexterity, Hand, Finger)
  • Sitting Long Periods


Accountant Working Environment
