About The Unit

The CardioThoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) is a 20-bed intensive care unit where we care for many complex medical problems including open-heart surgery, aneurysm repair, and heart and lung transplant. We have PT/OT 7 days a week, 2 Respiratory Therapists on the unit at all times, APP team coverage until 2300 and an attending MD for 24/7 coverage.

  • Leads the planning, implementation and evaluation of the nursing process.

  • Collaborates as an integrated team by sharing information, best practices and results openly through practice in a professional governance model.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
