Logistical Support Representative II

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Logistical Support Representative II
  • Hourly Pay Range: $18.84 - $27.32. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
  • Location: Glenview, IL
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full time
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-5:30PM
  • Required Travel: as needed

Job Summary:

The purpose of this job is to perform warehousing and moving functions, not limited to offloading/loading trucks; palletizing supplies to be transported; maintaining bulk supplies in the correct aisle and bin locations, ensuring product expiration dates are valid, as applicable; transporting bulk supplies to acute care and Medical Group locations; planning and execution of large equipment and furniture moves per the client's needs; and to assist with Logistical Support Representative I duties as needed, such as transporting employees, equipment, and supplies among the hospital facilities and other designated locations in the area; to receive and deliver inbound USPS and interoffice mail, and expedited letters and parcels to our hospitals, offsite locations, and other designated areas; to retrieve specimens and deliver reports and supplies to and from our hospitals, off-site locations, and other healthcare facilities in the area.

What you will do:

  • Unload and load trucks at the warehouse as needed; palletize bulk supplies to be distributed to acute care and Medical Group locations; maintain bulk supplies at the warehouse in the appropriate aisle and bin locations, ensuring that product expiration dates are valid, as applicable.
  • Licensed to safely operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, powered pallet trucks, and other powered warehouse equipment, as applicable.
  • Maintains a safe, clean and secure warehouse at all times. Notifies management of any mechanical or physical problems with the physical plant, or with the products stored there.
  • Receives purchased orders into ERP system; assigns product aisle and bin locations as applicable.
  • Safely load/unload large/sensitive equipment and furniture items onto truck.
  • Deliver items in a safe, timely and accurate fashion to the intended destination.
  • Storage of bulk warehouse supplies in appropriate section and/or aisle and bin location within the warehouse.
  • Safely operates all moving and storage equipment in the course of duties.
  • Safely operates company-owned vehicle within the course of duties.
  • Maintains a clean, organized and secure vehicle at all times.
  • Works with Purchasing and end-users to resolve any shipment discrepancies.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment at all times. Notifies management with any issues or concerns.
  • Per established procedures, assists in unloading shipments, prioritizing inbound parcels by urgency (i.e. refrigerated, frozen, etc.), while verifying the integrity of each parcel; any parcels with compromised integrity are to be rejected.
  • Verifies piece count with driver's manifest and Dock Logs the number of pieces into the handheld scanner.
  • Stages all parcels for receipt in the ERP system and delivery to the end user by location within the facility; verifies contents match what is listed on the Purchase Order, Packing Slip and/or Bill of Lading. If there is no Purchase Order, processes the shipment.
  • Once the contents are verified, all Purchase Orders are received into the ERP system; a Delivery Ticket is also printed, indicating the recipient and/or recipient department location.
  • Captures a signature in the handheld scanner at the time of delivery, and/or on the original Packing Slip/Bill of Lading, indicating proof of delivery.
  • Prepares all outbound shipments (vendor returns, repairs, etc).
  • Maintains filing system for all Packing Slips/Bills of Lading per established procedures.
  • Retrieves all inbound mail from USPS.
  • Receives, sorts, and delivers all interdepartmental and U.S. mail in a timely and effective manner based on established routes.
  • Prepares quality sort at time of delivery to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepares proper forms for certified and express mail, as well as maintains accurate records.
  • Applies proper postage to all outbound mail.
  • Forwards all undeliverable mail, including mail for discharged patients and former employees.
  • Maintains Mail Center equipment and assures that postage meter has adequate postage.
  • Distributes facsimile transmissions and mail and picks up all mail within the hospital.
  • Maintains confidentiality and a high level of integrity; does not open, read or tamper with mail.
  • Transports employees and supplies between hospitals, corporate offices and other NorthShore sites as specified including satellite operations special events, U.S. Government.
  • Retrieves mail and supplies from scheduled locations ( i.e. Mail/Copy Center, Receiving, Pharmacy, Operating Rooms, SPD, etc.)
  • Performs quality sort pre/post-delivery to ensure accuracy.
  • Enters pertinent data into handheld device related to pick up/delivery.
  • Operates hospital-owned vehicles in a safe manner, adhering to all Illinois traffic regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean vehicle (re-fuel, wash vehicle) at all times.
  • Notifies management immediately of any mechanical or physical problems with any vehicle.
  • Notifies department manager of any and all driving infractions including loss of driver's licensure immediately
  • Maintains accurate driving records, logs and trip tickets and reruns them daily to the department. Provide explanation for any variance.
  • Provides courier service to assigned routes to deliver and pick up supplies/specimens of NorthShore facilities and other outside vendors/companies.
  • Safely transports passengers, supplies between assigned locations

What you will need:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Certification: Must possess a valid Illinois class "C" driver's license. Must have held a valid driver's license for three (3) years prior to the date of application. Must also be licensed to operate forklifts and/or additional powered warehouse equipment as applicable.
  • Experience: Nine (9) months experience as a LSS Rep I or similar previous work experience.
  • Unique or Preferred Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to read, write, and speak pleasantly and effectively. Possess honesty, integrity, and trustworthy qualities. Maintains a service attitude. Ability to sort mail, organize and maintain records, work independently, and adjust to changes. Numerical ability. Able to meet the physical requirements of the position (Pushing/Pulling/Lifting: 20 to 100 lbs.)
  • Equipment Used in role: Forklift, powered and manual pallet trucks and carts, computers, scanners, cell phones, Vocera badges.
