Assistant Accounting Treasury

Annual Hourly/Salary Range: $17.69 - $26.54

Closing Date: March 21, 2025, or upon receipt of the first 50 application submissions

Job Summary: Under general supervision the Assistant Accountant will maintain journals, ledgers, records and reports to retrieve information and reports using on-line banking software. Prepares accounting entries for bank transfers, Process accounts receivables, prepare and post and deposit delinquent tax payments. Prepares and records daily bank deposits for the Treasurer's Office. Process and issue daily check run for Accounts Payable

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Process accounts receivable, process and issue daily check run for Accounts Payable; review bank activity for: "Positive Pay" check fraud exception reports for checks issued. Prepare bank deposits for the Treasurer's Office.
  • Prepare, post and deposit payments for delinquent tax payments.
  • Prepare journal entry to reflect daily bank activity in the Treasurer's Office; Prepare manual warrants to reflect daily activity of ACH payments made to vendors.
  • Record Stop Payment requests: Prepare and record replacement checks for the following departments: Payroll, Accounts Payable and Retirement
  • Maintain Unclaimed Funds List; prepare paperwork when a claim is made
  • Approve "Cash Receipt" documents on a daily basis in the Infor Accounting System.
  • Receive and document deposits from other County Departments, Answer telephone inquiries for Delinquent Property Taxes.
  • Records, stores, and retrieves files and information when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as needed and assigned.



Minimum Requirements:



  • Must be a current resident of the State of Wisconsin
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Intermediate level working with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • At least one (1) year of work experience in Accounts Receivables, Bookkeeping, Cash Handling and Customer Service
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.



Preferred Knowledge and/or Experience:



  • Associate Degree in Accounting.
  • The use of online banking software



Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The ability to work with high volume and variable work demands and deadlines. Including high level of internal and external communication. The ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others. Organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of personal computers, office machines, computer faxing which includes data processing, word processing, tax, spreadsheet software, internet banking, accounting theories, principles, practices and procedures. Knowledge of automated accounting systems oral, written, internal and external communications.

Physical Demands: Standing, Walking, Sitting, Squatting, Climbing, Talking, Visual. The Ability to Lift/Carry, Push/Pull up to 30lbs, Manual Dexterity and Upper Extremity and Repetitive Motion
