Quality Technician Apprentice

The BRP Marine Propulsion Systems facility in Spruce Pine, North Carolina is a full-service lost foam plant which uses innovative processes to create aluminum castings from polystyrene bead. We have a great workforce with employees who care for each other and the work that is done at our facility.

YOU'LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • First part approval of all CNC machines when required

  • Measuring of all machined parts on CMM 2x per shift. This will include operating both Calypso and PC-DMIS software

  • Calibrating CMMs on a set frequency

  • Interpreting CMM readings and giving machining adjustments to production when needed

  • Using hard gauges such as plug gauge, flush pin depth gauge, and snap gauges for dimensional verifications

  • Stopping production and quarantining affected product if features are found to be out of specification.

  • Inspecting and signing off products ready to ship to the customer

  • Calibrating and documenting assigned gauges with NIST traceability on a set frequency

  • Ensure customer satisfaction objectives and PPM targets are obtained

  • Following established safety rules

YOU'LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Self-motivated

  • Works well with others

  • Able to effectively follow written and verbal processes

  • Blueprint reading & Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

  • Computer literate with knowledge of: MS Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint,

  • Demonstrated proficiency with mechanical inspection tools and techniques including: calipers, thread gages, micrometers, pin gages, profilometers, and indicators

  • Proficiency with inspection, auditing & Statistical Process Control

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Good communication & organizational skills

  • Self starter with ability to prioritize & multitask

  • Strong teamwork skills with ability to work with minimal supervision
