Behavioral Health Prevention Coordinator

Salary Pay Range: $58,947.20 - $88,920

Job Summary: The Behavioral Health Prevention Coordinator carries the overall responsibility for the coordination, implementation, administration, and evaluation of the Substance Use Disorder prevention programs in Milwaukee County. This includes oversight of community regranting, contracted prevention programs, and involvement in local coalition work to address substance use prevention.

Essential Responsibilities:



  • Implement evidence based prevention programming. Utilize knowledge of epidemiologic indicators, evaluation design methods, and outcome reporting requirements.
  • Assist with contract administration, including requests for proposals, grant review, and fiscal and programmatic monitoring to ensure compliance. Ensure prevention grant funds are adhering to standards set forth in Scopes of Work and contracts.
  • Develop training materials and oversee training of stakeholders, agency staff, and the general public on prevention strategies and the utilization of the strategic prevention framework for mental illness and substance use disorder prevention including best practice standards.
  • Participate on local, state, and regional committees and coalitions as needed. Participate on committees pertaining to primary prevention, continuous quality improvement, quality assurance, and outcomes. Work productively with various stakeholder representatives.
  • Utilize proficiency in prevention data reporting including knowledge of the Substance Abuse Prevention Services Information System (SAP-SIS) database. Operate desktop computer software packages including word processing, spreadsheet, and/or database applications.
  • Assist in leading community regranting efforts with opioid settlement funds including application process, awards, contracting, reporting, and check-in event management. Attend awardee community events as applicable.
  • Coordinate high profile media campaigns and prevention events, including Better Ways to Cope, Mental Health Month, and Recovery Month.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:



  • Current resident of the state of Wisconsin.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license, able to be maintained throughout employment.
  • At least three (3) years of experience with mental health or substance abuse disorder prevention.
  • Possession of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time in this role.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Human Services, Psychology, or Social Work.
