About The Role

Summary

Under the supervision of the Model Risk Manager, the Model Risk Analyst II - Credit will use quantitative expertise, critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills in the bank's Model Risk Management (MRM) program to ensure compliance with model risk governance policy and regulatory expectations. Will be responsible for reviewing, documenting, validating, and challenging models and non-models across the organization with a primary focus on Credit. Will comprehend and execute on advanced mathematical modeling techniques and communicate effectively at all levels. Will also participate in MRM governance, including policy and procedures, committee reporting, and findings tracking. Will ensure compliance with the institution's stress testing policy and provide effective challenge to credit and enterprise wide stress testing results performed by the first line of business. A successful candidate will have strong analytical/mathematical skills and display an interest in all areas of risk management, but have a particular passion for credit risk, stress testing, Current Expected Credit Loss (CECL), and forecasting.

This is a Corporate position which may be located at an available bank division location across our eight-state footprint in AZ, CO, ID, MT, NV, UT, WA, or WY. The mid-rate for this position is $79,730.20 + / per year. (calculated for Kalispell, MT).

All compensation offers are analyzed individually and take into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, years of experience, and educational background.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides effective challenge and second line of defense oversight over various business lines to ensure proper risk mitigation of activities under taken by the first line of defense.
  • Engage model developers (internal and external) to understand and challenge model functionality, use case, and reliability. This will include ensuring the model is adequately documented with input data quality testing, outcomes analysis, back testing, and a plan for model performance monitoring.
  • In conjunction with the Model Risk Manager, designs and executes model validations and reviews according to guidelines based on SR 11-7 and FDIC-22-2017 to include an assessment of model usage, documentation, conceptual soundness, data integrity, control environment, and the software environment. Development of an independent challenger model is often an integral part of the validation process. Presents results and deliverables through formal reports and verbal presentations to model owners and senior management.
  • Collaborates with Credit Department to ensure all models are identified, model documentation is current and complete, model changes are logged, and 1st line of defense monitoring controls are sufficient. Prepares remediation plans and monitors the actions taken by model owners.
  • Enhances the stress testing program framework including appropriate governance standards, policies, procedures, inventories, findings, and remediation expectations. Challenge scenarios and assumptions within stress testing models.
  • Assists in the creation and maintenance of the policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures required to implement the Bank's Model Risk Management Framework that covers model and computational tool identification and classification, model development and testing, model documentation, model validation, and model performance monitoring.
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Must complete the assigned online training courses and achieve a passing score by due date.

Additional Requirements

Travel

Up to 10% travel required: (e.g. 2 days/month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job, and the employee must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing.
