Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Consulting Application Developer for the Office of Information Technology. The position is responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the implementation of the critical software applications that enable the deployment and maintenance of the Rutgers messaging and cloud storage solutions.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Identifies and researches solutions that allow for an integrated approach to managing complex but disparate cloud SaaS products such as Office 365, Google Suite, Box and locally managed applications stacks and provide unified management solutions for OIT staff and departmental delegated administrators.
- Identifies and integrates emerging AI tools and technologies into the existing and future applications.
- Provides documentation, trains and guidance to junior developers, ensuring all projects are deployed timely, in accordance with university policies, and following the best industry practices and ethical principles.
- Provides high-level analysis and guides other members and groups within the department.
- Stays current with best practices in software development and applies new technology and processes where appropriate.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
- 6 years of experience in the field of software development.

Certifications/Licenses |

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Proven experience with SaaS and PaaS solutions such as Office 365, Google Suite, and others.
- The candidate should be able to demonstrate a deep understanding in how cloud hosted SaaS solutions are managed via APIs and integrated with local applications.
- Experience and detailed knowledge administering and deploying Linux and Windows based servers, including management and deployment of redundant services and the design and implementation of software designed with multi site resilience.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing complex software products, software development best practices, source control, software lifecycle and agile practices, and designing software with a security focused mindset.
- Strong knowledge of internet technologies critical to the messaging environments, including but not limited to SMTP, DNS, Active Directory, LDAP, OAUTH, HTTP and DMARC.
- Strong knowledge of storage technologies, database management, and content management systems.
