This Clinical Assistant will be responsible for:
- Collecting, verifying and recording required information according to established procedures and instructions.
- Assisting Registered Nurse with completing medication prior authorizations.
- Assisting Registered Nurse with maintaining prescription medication refill line/message pool.
- Communicating with pharmacies over the phone for any prescription medication follow-up as needed.
- Drafting letters as requested by the patient/family (e.g. for pharmacies, school based nursing, pediatricians, medical specialists) for the Registered Nurse's review.
- Collecting and organizing medical records, information, materials and supplies required for admissions or encounters. Preparing requisitions and other standard forms as requested by clinician or supervisor.
- Recording and forwarding messages and triaging calls for urgent information or services. Responding to requests for routine information or assistance within scope of knowledge and authority. Initiating call for emergency services as required.
To qualify, you must have:
- 1 year related experience.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- The ability to: exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain hospital policies and relay messages to appropriate personnel. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work on a team.
- The ability to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8-4:30pm
- Prior experience or interest in behavioral health preferred.
- Medical terminology experience helpful.
