Responsibilities
Hours for this role are a 0.6 or 0.8 FTE, Monday - Friday, 8a-430p This role does float to multiple Metro Sites What You'll Do: As an RN Float, you will play a vital role in managing the care of patients in our Adult and Youth Partial Hospital Programs, inpatient units, and clinics. Your responsibilities will include:
- Holistic Patient Care: Provide non-judgmental, culturally sensitive care that respects the autonomy, dignity, and rights of our patients and their families.
- Medication Management: Administer medications accurately, monitor for side effects, and educate patients and families about their treatment plans.
- Clinical Interventions: Perform timely interventions as ordered by physicians, including necessary testing and documentation to ensure safe handoffs to providers.
- Care Management: Conduct psychosocial, physical, and behavioral assessments, providing individualized directives based on your findings.
- Collaborative Communication: Work closely with interdisciplinary team members, seeking advice and feedback to ensure the highest standard of patient care.
- Therapeutic Milieu Management: Utilize therapeutic approaches to create a safe and supportive environment, focusing on reducing the use of restraints and seclusion.
- Group Facilitation: Plan and facilitate nursing groups, engaging patients in meaningful therapeutic activities during their treatment.
- Leadership and Delegation: Lead and delegate tasks to Psychiatric Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Certified Medical Assistants, ensuring a collaborative team approach.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing School, Nursing Degree required. BSN Preferred. Current licensure as an RN with the Minnesota State Board of Nursing is required.
- Evidence of 1 year of psychiatric/mental health nursing experience within the past two years preferred
- Additionally, may have professional certifications, including but not limited to an RN ANCC Certification in Mental Health Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, and/or Holistic Health
- Must have critical thinking skills and ability to problem solve
- Ability to communicate and make safe judgment calls in stressful situations
- Ability to multi-task, use time efficiently, and prioritize appropriately
- Ability to provide remote coverage for clinics throughout the PrairieCare system.
- Ability to float to all PrairieCare Clinics, Partial Hospital Programs, and Inpatient.
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner in both verbal and written format and model a positive teamwork attitude
- Ability to intervene in person and on the phone while triaging during pre-crisis or crisis situations by utilizing de-escalation techniques in the clinic setting, including developing a plan of safety for patients as needed.
- Interpersonal skills-the individual maintains confidentiality, remains open to others' ideas and exhibits willingness to try new things.
- Must have basic computer skills using Microsoft Office products and EHR
- Knowledgeable of the Joint Commission standards for restraint/seclusion use and documentation requirements.
- Ability to react quickly and calmly as part of a team to handle volatile and potentially emergent situations
- Quality management-the individual looks for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
Pay range for this position is $38 to $51 depending on education and experience. Benefit options include:
