About this Opportunity
Ball State University welcomes applications for our 21st Century Scholar Success Coach position. This 21st Century Scholar Success Coach position is grant-funded through the Indiana Commission for Higher Education ( ICHE). The grant is funded through December 2025.

Length of Assignment Full-Time At-Will
Position Function
Provide support to Cardinal Central; coordinate and implement programs that support student persistence , provide oversight of two graduate assistant, provide individual support for 21st Century Scholars, and represent Cardinal Central at events or in processes.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum Experience
One year of higher ed experience preferably in retention, student success, academic advising or related including graduate assistantship.
Minimum Other
Exceptional customer service skills and knowledge of basic service etiquette.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills; public speaking skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to make independent decisions and work collaboratively and productively under pressure in a -fast-paced environment.
Ability to write clearly, concisely, and correctly.
An appreciation of and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles; engaging and interacting with people of diverse backgrounds.
Ability to work as a team member.
Ability to meet expectations in a fast-paced, dynamic, student-oriented environment.
Ability to attend meetings, events, functions on and off-campus and virtually.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of records and information.
Ability to work flexible hours, as needed.
Understanding of and commitment to BSU's Mission, Vision, and Values.
Experience with computer applications and systems; ability and willingness to learn innovative programs, applications, systems, tools, platforms, etc.
Authorization to work in the US Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Education
Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in education administration, college student personnel or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Experience
Experience with intervention strategies for at-risk students.
Preferred Other
Pre-Employment Screening Requires successful completion of a background check.

Job Duty
Serve as a coach and mentor to students at risk to aid in their development of the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and beliefs they need to succeed in college and their careers.


Ranking 2
Job Duty
Coordinate, plan and implement programs and services that support the persistence and achievement of 21st Century Scholars.

Job Duty
Supervise a Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education ( SAAHE) Graduate Assistant who will work with first year scholars.

Job Duty
Work collaboratively with the 21st Century Scholar Graduate Assistants on programming in collaboration with the ScholarCore student organization.

Job Duty
Serve as a resource and referral agent for students at risk of persistence. Work in collaboration with Academic Advising to provide appropriate guidance.

Initiate collaboration with the Career Center on career and post-graduation programs and services.

Job Duty
Collect and compile data on retention and persistence of 21st Century Scholars.

Utilize and maintain proficiency in a variety of programs and software; that may include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Windows, Self Service Banner, Argos, EAB Navigate and Salesforce.
