Description
We are seeking an experienced Director of Transportation Engineering to lead our transportation department. This role involves strategic planning, project execution, business development, and department oversight to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the Transportation Engineering department, ensuring adherence to project, budgetary, and schedule constraints.
  • Oversee project managers and ensure compliance with company policies, technical requirements, and industry standards.
  • Develop and execute an annual department plan, ensuring effective budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Maintain client relationships, obtain timely decisions, and address budgetary or contractual modifications.
  • Supervise staff assignments, monitor performance, and ensure project deliverables meet client and company expectations.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Represent the company at public meetings and industry events.
  • Prepare proposals, estimates, and participate in contract negotiations.
  • Provide mentorship and career development opportunities for department members.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and maintain awareness of legislative and regulatory changes affecting the industry.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license with registration in multiple states (or ability to obtain).
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, including MassDOT and the City of Boston
  • Proven experience in growing and developing a team, including mentoring and performance management.
  • Ability to market company services, develop new business, and maintain client relationships.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and business development skills.
  • Experience managing budgets, project schedules, and technical compliance.
  • Knowledge of emerging transportation technologies and best practices.
