Position Description
The Financial Accounting Assistant Manager is primarily responsible for assisting the Financial Accounting Managers with ensuring all Financial Accounting activities are properly recorded according to GAAP. They also maintain the integrity of the Company's financial information and related records and ensures compliance to all federal regulations through timely reporting. Work is varied in nature with changing priorities.

Position Accountabilities
* Assists in directing and participates in the monthly close process and other daily activities of the Accounting Operations group, including journal entries, accruals process, account reconciliations, tax calculations, variance analysis and monthly financial reporting for all entities and lines of businesses as assigned.
* Helps to manage a team and ensures the Company's financial/accounting processes are performed in a timely and accurate manner per the close calendar and according to US GAAP, SOX and internal accounting policies and procedures.
* Assists in management of the General Accounting functions and processes including but not limited to, Fixed Assets, Leases, Mortgage Accounting, derivatives, corporate investments, prepaids, cash and correspondent bank accounts, securities, payroll and related benefits, loans, deposits.
* Supports the Financial Accounting Managers, Director of Accounting Operations and Corporate Controller in maintaining and developing a robust financial control environment and improving the efficiency of current systems and processes, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, applicable laws and regulations.
* Collaborates in the maintenance of the various financial systems, including maintaining the chart of accounts and related hierarchies in consultation with peers, and conducting routine ledger maintenance activities in support of the month and year end close processes.
* Supports the strategic direction of the company by providing resources in partnership with the PMO and the Finance Transformation offices, to support the company's new efforts (products, software implementation, process improvements, and other initiatives).
* Partners with SEC reporting and Regulatory team to ensure understanding of new accounts and supporting reconciliations/reports.
* Identifies, develops, and recommends revision of internal standards, policies, operating procedures, and new programs to improve efficiency; provides staff with clear and concise written guidelines.
* Partners with the Accounting Policy team as they conduct accounting research to ensure appropriate operationalization of accounting policy decisions.
* Adheres to all applicable laws and regulations governing bank operations, including compliance with Atlantic Union Bankshares' BSA/AML Policy and Procedures.

Organizational Relationship
This position reports to the Financial Accounting Manager

Position Qualifications
Education & Experience
* An undergraduate degree in Accounting required
* Minimum of 5 years in accounting experience required
* Evidence of supervisory experience
* CPA preferred

Knowledge & Skills
* In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures as applied to a financial institution.
* Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
* In-depth knowledge of computerized accounting systems (e.g., GL, AP, etc.).
* Advanced PC skills including word processing, spreadsheet and automated accounting applications.
* Advanced written, oral and interpersonal skills with ability to prepare and deliver technical presentations and supervise employees.

Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
