Job Description:

  • The Senior Systems Engineer utilizes sound systems engineering principles to conduct analysis, coordinate design solutions, and apply mathematical methods to solve complex system needs. Leverage their systems engineering experience/education to address issues such as logistics, the coordination of different teams, development, and analysis of requirements, and consider the entire life cycle applied to large, complex projects.
  • For reference: Systems engineering is an interdisciplinary field of engineering focusing on how complex projects should be designed and managed over their life cycles. Systems engineering deals with work-processes and tools to manage risks on such projects, and it overlaps with both technical and human-centered disciplines such as core engineering, organizational studies, and project management.
  • The contractor shall provide all IT support and services to include the installation, configuration, hardening, patching, backup, auditing, software version updating, monitoring, and troubleshooting for all the systems, servers, and analytical models connected to this network.
  • Windows Servers, Domain Name Servers (DNS), Domain Controllers, DHCP, File Server, SCCM Server, Print Server, Exchange Server, VMware, VCenter, vSphere, ESXi SQL Servers, ACAS Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Network Cisco switches, Client Virtual Connect Switches, Storage Arrays, Brocade SAN Switches
  • The contractor shall maintain/monitor/support all windows servers and domains.
  • The contractor shall add and remove users, to include all permissions and group allocation.
  • The contractor shall create and maintain user exchange mailboxes.
  • The contractor shall maintain all servers in accordance with DISA STIGs and Joint Security Implementation Guide (JSIG) guidance.
  • The contractor shall run SCAP scans and mitigate findings quarterly or as directed by the COR.
  • The contractor shall run ACAS scans monthly or as required by ATO/C authorities.
  • The contractor shall maintain compliance with MTO's/TCNO's/etc.
  • The contractor shall ensure all systems are patched in accordance with the SSP.
  • Maintain SQL Server Databases ensuring availability and maintenance of the user and system databases.
  • Storage Arrays. The contractor shall monitor system health and configure arrays daily to prevent a catastrophic data loss.
  • The contractor shall implement a back-up schema that shall include a weekly backup of all files that changed during the week, a monthly backup of SAF/SA managed networks in accordance with (IAW) SAF/SA's Security Plans (SPs).
  • The contractor shall restore all data from any backup created as required at the request of the ISO/ISSM or alternate. The ISO/ISSM will inform the COR of the restore requirement.
  • The contractor shall test backup data and procedures for data integrity on a quarterly basis.


Education and Experience:

  • Master of Science degree from an accredited college or university in Systems Engineering with a minimum three (3) years of task related experience;
  • OR Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering with a minimum six (6) years of task related experience; OR Associates' degree from a college or university with a curriculum or major field of study in computer science, information system, a physical science, engineering or a mathematics-intensive discipline, plus ten (10) years task related experience; OR (15) years of task related experience.
