Overview
The Real Estate Loan Officer Assistant (RELOA) will support the Real Estate Loan Officer(s) (RELO) in delivering excellent member service throughout the mortgage loan process. This role is key to ensuring efficient loan operational excellence, maintaining member satisfaction, and driving mortgage loan growth. The assistant will coordinate loan documentation, facilitate communication, manage administrative responsibilities and ensure seamless workflows while adhering to all regulatory guidelines and credit union policies.
Responsibilities
Ensure consistent and professional member communications that align with the credit union's brand and service standards
- Serve as the primary point of contact for members during the mortgage loan process, answering inquiries promptly
- Guide members through required documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Assist RELO in gathering, reviewing, and submitting required documents for mortgage loan applications (e.g., income verification, credit reports, property appraisals)
- Prepare and organize loan files for underwriting and ensure compliance with credit union and regulatory guidelines
- Monitor loan pipelines to track critical milestones, from application to funding
- Work closely with underwriters, processors, and funding to streamline loan process
- Manage relationships and communication with realtors, title and escrow officers
- Manage and update the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to ensure accurate member information, including information on leads and prospects
- Support Marketing initiatives by coordinating targeted touchpoints through the CRM, including email campaigns, follow-up reminders, and loan program updates
- Assist RELO in leveraging CRM tools to drive member retention and promote relevant mortgage products and services
- Support the RELO with sales initiatives, pipeline management, and lead tracking through CRM and other tools
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell credit union products and services that add value to members
- Provide project management support by coordinating tasks, timelines, and deliverables for team initiatives, such as process improvement projects, marketing campaigns, or new product rollouts

Qualifications
Education
- Min/Preferred: Minimum
- Education Level: High School or GED
- Description: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Preferred:2 Year / Associate Degree
- Associate degree or coursework in business, finance, or a related field preferred
Experience
- Minimum Years of Experience: 3
- Preferred Years of Experience: 5
- Comments: Minimum 3 years of experience in mortgage lending, real estate, or financial services.
Knowledge, Skills & Ability

- Detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Proficiency in First Trust Deed and Second Trust Deed mortgage loans including the understanding of FHA, VA, Conventional, Home Equity Lines of Credit and Home Equity Fixed Loans
- Proficiency in supplemental mortgage insurance, including Mortgage Insurance, Fixed vs. Adjustable-Rate Mortgages and loan sizes (conforming, high balance, jumbo)
- Familiarity with Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac lending guidelines and knowledge of the laws, regulations and fundamentals of real estate lending
- Ability to analyze tax returns and accurately calculate income for all types of borrowers
- Familiarity with loan origination systems and Customer Relationship Management platforms
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite of office products
- Current NMLS license or ability to obtain NMLS license within 6 months of entering the position

Pay Range
USD $21.27 - USD $31.90 /Hr.
