Overview

Position Description This position will be responsible for managing the team of Field Application Specialists to support QIAGEN automation systems and chemistries in the field. Support will include customer training, evaluation monitoring, routine customer follow up, on-site/remote troubleshooting, and other pre- and post-sale technical consultation/support within the United States and Canada. Position Requirements - Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or equivalent. Master's degree in molecular biology or a related field desirable. - 2-5 years of lab experience, and/or 4+ years within a field-based customer support function. - Prior management of a diverse technical team, highly desirable. - Comprehensive technical knowledge and understanding of molecular biology, including DNA/RNA purification, PCR, and sequencing. - Understand the regulatory requirements clinical customers within the US and Canada. - Prior experience within Sales or Marketing role desirable. - Excellent communication skills and commitment to customer satisfaction. - Technical training experience. - Experience with CRM software (particularly Salesforce.com) highly desirable. Personal Requirements - Deep knowledge of wet lab molecular biology methods/techniques in a laboratory setting. - A customer-facing personality, including the ability to build positive relationships and engage in technical discussions with customers. - A strong desire to work with customers to understand their operation's needs and recommend QIAGEN solutions that accomplish their specific goals. - Proven track record of goal achievement. - Ability to define Key Performance Indicators/Goals necessary to measure the team's commercial impact. - Ability to recruit, hire and build a team of Field Application Specialists. - Ability to motivate team to be successful - Work collaboratively with Sales, Marketing, Global Product Management, Field Service, Operations as well as other departments across the organization - Ability to integrate both internal and field-based resources to find creative solutions to customer requests. - Ability to prioritize conflicting customer requests based on urgency and business value. - Ability to support additional products if/when added to support portfolio - Fluent in English, both oral and written. Additional language skills are welcome. - Located near a major airport - Ability to travel 50% with anticipated overnights of 20% (mostly domestic) What we offer At the heart of QIAGEN are our people who drive our success.
