The Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) is creating the future of health. ISB scientists make breakthrough discoveries in cancer, health, chronic and infectious disease, and environmental issues. The Contracts Specialist is part of the Innovation team that works to expand our reach through contracts and commercialization.

Essential Duties:



  • Develop, maintain, and document the contract management process to ensure efficient contract execution and archiving.
  • Act as subject matter expert on contractual rights and provide interpretation.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and route nondisclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, research collaboration agreements, and license agreements; includes interacting closely with involved investigator(s)
  • Support technology licensing and grant reporting requirements by managing iEdison, contract and, patent docket systems
  • Support the resolution of contract related issues, changes in scopes of work, and the understanding of contract details internally
  • Provides business systems support and maintenance by staying-up-to date on features and ensuring seamless rollout of new releases



Required Education, Skills & Experience:

* Two (2) or more years of work experience as a paralegal or contract specialist

* Proven competency in written communications, contracts, and proposals

* Ability to learn and operate business systems (e.g. iEdison)

All ISB staff members are expected to have baseline technical skills and the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately over email, the intranet, etc. Employees should be able to use Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint at a functional level.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Certificate or degree in contracts management, law, or paralegal studies

* Experience working in a research environment

* Experience working with iEdison

Expected annual pay is between $80,000 and $115,000.
