This position is eligible for an up to $5,000 sign-on bonus!

The Home for Little Wanderers is seeking a Behavioral Support Specialist for their private school located in Plymouth, MA. The COVE School is an individually student-approved private school educational treatment program for youth. The student population at the school is generally characterized as having emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges. Primary responsibility includes facilitating the Therapeutic Intervention System in the school, ensuring safety of the students, and providing support to the students and staff in the school.

How You'll Be Making a Difference



  • Work closely with the Principal to ensure structure and routines in place throughout the day.
  • Uses the Therapeutic Intervention System guidelines to determine responses to specific behavior.
  • Plan and schedule weekly circles designed to enhance students' growth and development.
  • Coordinate and manage all activities of school shift including, but not limited to, medical appointments, recreational activities, transportation to off-site vocational events.
  • Provide, model and supervise group and individual behavior support and intervention in keeping with TCI principles including appropriate physical restraints as necessary.
  • Ensure completion of all necessary shift paperwork including incident reporting, etc.
  • Provide coverage of shifts as needed.
  • Help manage medical and emergency situations.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents/guardians regarding absences or major incidents.
  • Take daily attendance and call home if students are absent or late to school.
  • Oversee the school electronics policy.
  • Ensure all safety precautions are taken when students are entering and exiting the school (wand check-in, electronics turned in, etc.).
  • Demonstrates urgency around students' engagement in academic and vocational classes.
  • Work schedule: 8 AM-4:30 PM


    Qualifications



    • Equivalent to two years of college and/or two years child care experience in a residential setting with similar population
    • Supervisory experience helpful
    • Computer literate including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer with the ability to learn new software applications
