Position Title: Facilities Electrician

Location: Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD), Panama City, FL

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Facilities Electrician to provide essential electrical support services at NSWC PCD. This role involves performing various electrical maintenance and installation tasks to ensure the functionality, safety, and compliance of facilities with operational standards.

Responsibilities:



  • Electrical Maintenance:

    • Replace ballasts in overhead light fixtures.
    • Relocate electrical outlets and switches as required.
    • Add or replace circuits in electrical panels to support new or existing equipment.
    • Install conduit, surface-mounted raceways, and manage the pulling of electrical cabling/wiring.


  • Preventive Maintenance:

    • Map out electrical systems, circuits, and breakers, maintaining accurate records.
    • Perform routine preventive maintenance on electrical systems to ensure reliability and safety.


  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to all safety standards and protocols, including those outlined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
    • Handle hazardous materials in compliance with base policies and environmental regulations.


  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Document all work performed, including maintenance schedules, changes, and issues resolved.
    • Report any safety or hazardous material incidents immediately to prevent recurrence and ensure compliance with safety standards.




Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an electrician apprenticeship program or technical school preferred.



  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in electrical systems installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Certifications: Must possess or be able to obtain necessary electrician certifications, including a journeyman or master electrician license if required by local or state regulations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in using electrical testing equipment, understanding blueprints, and following electrical codes and standards.
  • Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills for reporting and collaborating with facility management and other team members.


Preferred Skills:



  • Experience with government or military facilities, particularly understanding of DoD and Navy-specific electrical protocols and safety requirements.
  • Familiarity with specific systems like Navy and Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) for accessing necessary documentation or schematics.
  • Knowledge of environmental protection standards related to electrical work.
