We are seeking a skilled and experienced Software Engineer to join our team. You will join the team building the Charter developer platform (BryteIQ) that exposes internal services to third-party developers. Your experience in software development, curiosity to solve technical challenges and obsession to deliver code with quality and on time will be key to your success. In this role, you will develop and maintain scalable and efficient server-side systems and collaborate with other software development teams to deliver the Bryte IQ roadmap. You will work within an Agile environment and follow best practices in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business and user needs.

BE PART OF THE CONNECTION

As a Software Engineer - Back End on the Emerging Tech team, you will be responsible for prototyping solutions with a focus on integration into service commercialization, work in a broad range of technology disciplines including embedded systems, software development, and IP networking. This role will also develop interfaces to third-party ecosystems to enhance the capabilities of connected devices. Members of this team have a great deal of latitude to choose technologies used for prototyping and implementation. The Emerging Tech Engineer independently works the in areas that are of moderate scope and has the opportunity to expand to more complex phases, while under the guidance of technical team members.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ year's experience - systems analysis, or coding, testing and design, or experience with software development methodologies, or experience with network systems
  • Education: BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills:
    • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of existing distributed system and Internet application architectures
    • In-depth knowledge of Internet technology fundamentals (TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, TLS, DNS, DHCP)
    • Familiarity with modern architectures (SOA, REST), and communication frameworks (HTTP, XMPP, MQTT)
    • Requires a high degree of creativity and the ability to work independently to innovate in emerging technology areas
    • Effective attention to detail Display professional, positive, and approachable attitude/demeanor and discretion
    • Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and an understanding of software design patterns and principles
    • Knowledge of Voice, Data, Video, Wireless technologies Intermediate knowledge with technology (inputs, outputs, and processing flows), and ability to clearly communicate that knowledge Intermediate knowledge in automating software deployments using tools such as Puppet, Chef, Python and Ansible
  • Abilities:
    • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
    • Ability to work independently and ramp up quickly in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to focus on deadlines and deliverables
    • Ability to work well with shifting priorities while maintaining organization
    • Ability to identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system
  • Travel Ability: Limited travel
  • Schedule:
    • Full time
    • This position is eligible to work in a hybrid work model (combination of in-office and remote days)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in back-end development
  • Practical experience of building and maintaining large-scale distributed systems in a cloud-native environment.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and API development.
  • Experience in cloud infrastructure (we primarily with AWS).
  • Experience with version control (Git) and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with billing and payment systems.

The base pay for this position generally is between $78,900.00 and $139,500.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
