QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience - Required Ten or more years of experience including full charge bookkeeping - journal entries, posting, payroll, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation; or Associates Degree or 2-year Certificate in Accounting and 8 years of experience; or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and 1 year of related experience which could include internships. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must possess basic math skills, the ability to analyze figures, knowledge of accounting principles and excellent verbal and written skills. Summary of Responsibilities:
Essential Duties: Staff Accountants will be expected to know all the functions related to maintaining the general journal, contracts and grants, bank functions, lines of credits, depreciation and closing entries.
Physical Requirements: May require long periods of sitting at a desk using a personal computer and telephone. Able to walk, sit, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Must occasionally lift and move up to 25, usually file boxes. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, hand, or feel objects, tools, or controls; to talk or hear; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Works on many projects at once with interruptions and noise from ringing telephones, printers, copiers, and walk-in traffic, multiple deadlines, and competing priorities. Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds who may be angry, hostile, confused, or frustrated. Working Conditions: Divisional Headquarters office hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The Finance Department supports field offices from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time, with core hours between 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Coverage of the full range of department hours is accomplished by flexing hours within that range. This employee will establish a regular daily schedule with their supervisor between the hours of 7:30 to 5:00. There are two paid 15 minute breaks, mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Employees may elect either a half hour or full hour unpaid lunch, which will be established as part of their regular schedule. Equipment Used: The following equipment is used: telephone, computer equipment, typewriter, fax/copy/scan machines, 10-key calculator. Required to operate a computer terminal to enter, update, correct or retrieve information. Pressure to meet deadlines. Long periods of sitting at a desk. Bachelors of Accounting (preferred)
Associates of Accounting (preferred) Experience
