Shift: 07:00AM-03:30PM, 03:00PM-11:30PM, 11:00PM-07:30AM

Pay Rate Range: $20/hr.-$25/hr.

Job Description:

  • Provide lactation support via phone and text to parents and caregivers across North Carolina, offering evidence-based advice on breastfeeding techniques, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
  • Ensure services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as part of a team of Lactation Consultants and Counselors, including weekend and evening shifts.
  • Offer guidance on prenatal and postpartum breastfeeding issues, with sensitivity to the unique needs of diverse populations.
  • Provide culturally competent support to families, with attention to racial and ethnic disparities in breastfeeding rates, ensuring equitable care for all communities.
  • Document and track hotline call and text communications, ensuring accurate and timely follow-up when needed.
  • Collaborate with local health care professionals and community partners to ensure consistent messaging and a coordinated approach to breastfeeding support.
  • Stay updated on best practices, research, and emerging trends in lactation, integrating new knowledge into the hotline's services.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain certifications and enhance support skills.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must be a certified International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience providing lactation support in clinical, hospital, or community settings.
  • Previous experience of providing remote or hotline-based support is preferred .
  • Familiarity with maternal and infant health, breastfeeding guidelines, and the challenges families face in accessing care is highly desirable .
