Who You'll Work With
You will work in the Miramar offices using the hybrid model.
Optimize is the global third-party management capability of the firm, enhancing and protecting the firm's resources and reputation by making responsible buying easy and creating leading solutions and experiences across our supplier ecosystem.
In this role, you will work with leaders and colleagues across optimize - and stakeholders across the firm (e.g., finance, office services) - as you shape, support, and deliver on McKinsey's Purchasing expansion. You will work closely with colleagues across the Purchasing team, as well as Optimize category and capability initiative owners to create and execute strategies to expand firm's global digital buying channels capabilities.
Your impact within our firm
You will design new buying channels by assessing current processes and identifying gaps and challenges; manage risk by ensuring proper controls and responsible practices (including considerations for ESG) are designed into the buying channel.
You will lead a cross-functional effort to implement newly designed buying channels, establishing a No Control - No Pay policy by partnering with Purchasing Operations, Adoption & Performance, and Solutions teams, and, encompassing both process and system enhancements. This includes assessing and redesigning buying channels, incorporating critical controls, responsible practices, and driving spend through preferred channels and suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
You'll have the opportunity to gain new skills and build on the strengths you bring to the firm. In this high-profile role, you will be exposed to senior firm leadership and expected to collaborate closely outside of Optimize with firm, finance, and other functional leadership, delivering significant impact for the firm.
You will potentially build and oversee a team to achieve performance of these responsibilities.
Your qualifications and skills
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • 7+ years of relevant experience or equivalent consulting experience
  • Deep subject matter expertise in the field of procurement process optimization
  • Understanding of the modern procure-to-pay operations and associated challenges
  • Excellent organizational, planning, prioritization, and project management skills with demonstrated impact
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Comfort with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Previous experience leading teams
  • Excellent communication & excellent interpersonal skills, including the abilities to communicate effectively with all audience
