Is an internship focused on changing the world's energy future intriguing? If so, we might have just the opportunity you're looking for!


Reporting to the Mechanical Design and Engineering Research group, you will work at the Biomass Feedstock National User Facility. Your responsibilities will include collecting and analyzing biomass samples, tabulating the results in spreadsheets, and presenting your findings to other researchers in collaboration with your mentor. This work is essential in utilizing agricultural, forest, or municipal waste materials to create alternative fuels and support net zero waste initiatives.

The role requires proficiency in using Microsoft products, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

This position has the opportunity to be extended part-time in the school year.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:



  • Undergraduate student enrolled full time at an accredited college/university studying Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field
  • Experience or coursework in Microscopy Equipment (SEM, TEM, UFM, UVM, FTIR, X-Ray), Analytical extraction, or Mass Spectrometry, Spectroscopy
  • A minimum overall 3.0 GPA
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT and OPT)

Compensation and Benefits:




  • Undergraduate Internships ($26.16/hour - $31.47/hour)



  • Masters Internships and PhD Internships Pre-Candidacy ($32.87/hour - $35.26/hour)



  • PhD Internships Post-Candidacy ($35.95/hour - $38.41/hour)



  • Eligible interns are provided paid holiday time off, and many of our internships offer travel reimbursements.



  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on degree field and level of education.
