The Executive Director, Inflammation and Systems Biology will align Inotiv's services in early drug discovery and translational sciences to provide a contemporary, effective integrated service to Inotiv's customers. This role will act as the Scientific Leader for a multifunction team within Pharmacological Sciences encompassing Inflammation, Immunology, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Neuroscience. The Executive Director will foster an environment of technological and scientific expertise in support of Inotiv's growth of drug discovery staged services, including Disease Pharmacology, Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, Investigative and Molecular Pathology, Biochemical Pharmacology and Translational Platforms (Can we add a specific about bioinformatics, etc. or is it too early?). They will influence department leaders to collaborate with all team members, peers and leaders, to ensure alignment in cross-functional and corporate objectives.
The Executive Director will facilitate and improve inter-disciplinary team relationships, resulting in high levels of engagement and collaboration. They will support local, regional, and Inotiv business development opportunities and enable client success from discovery to development
- Lead the growth of existing Inflammation, IBD and CNS disease business units by crafting scientific strategy, integrating research disciplines, informing marketing and business development and coaching and mentoring business unit directors.
- Support the integration of current DTS pharmacology and disease modeling operations in Pharmacological Sciences, oriented to the drug discovery market via a therapeutic areas focused construct (e.g., head, heart, gut), aligned with Pharmacological Sciences goals and objectives.
- Drive the expansion of existing critical therapeutic areas (e.g., immunology, pulmonary), establish new areas of therapeutic area focus (e.g., endocrinology, infectious disease), and contribute to strategic M&A planning (e.g., oncology).
- Collaborate with laboratory sciences lead to establish high throughput molecular pharmacology and in vitro modeling subunit within DTS (e.g., internal innovation & expansion or M&A).
- Deploy Inflammation, IBD and CNS unit and study directors to support scientific engagement & business development efforts. Support broad commercial efforts (e.g., marketing) and mechanisms of client engagement (CX & digital channels) towards business line growth and DTS success.
- Partner with the VP of Pharmacological Sciences to craft and achieve strategic plans.
- Work with SVP Operations to harmonize management processes, maximize resource utilization & DTS site fungibility in Boulder; champion a client satisfaction focus through on time delivery of projects (proposals, data dissemination, reports).
- Advance scientific scholarship through independent basic science research; drive internal innovation; broaden Inotiv's external presence in the drug discovery & development arena
- Leads a multi-site group comprised of staff ranging from senior directors to study directors to technical staff
- Ensures facilities meet scientific, regulatory, and inspection agency guidelines and expectations; resolves issues identified in audits and escalates to senior leaders as appropriate.
- Interfaces with clients and prospects (or delegates as appropriate) modeling Inotiv's core values; ensures all team members are clear and aligned.
- Closely partners with the business development group to support client and vendor relationships.
- Promotes an open and communicative culture; fosters a team environment that aligns with Inotiv's culture and promotes the pursuit of maximizing potential.
- Manages team priorities and resource allocation for Boulder Regional team in pursuit of operational capacity and growth, without sacrifice to quality and client service.
- Ensures employees receive effective coaching, mentoring, and training to support growth and development on a consistent and regular basis.
- Develops strategic plan to advance the division's mission and objectives and to promote revenue, profitability, and growth.
- Evaluates performance of management for compliance with established policies and objectives of the division and contributions in attaining objectives.
- Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel for client visits, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Demonstrated core expertise in one or more of the aforementioned scientific disciplines, within the context of drug discovery and/or regulated development and/or clinical development.

Minimum Requirements
- PhD in Pharmacology, Immunology or closely related field
- Fifteen years of experience in drug research and development and discovery research
- Individual must possess a fundamental understanding of major therapeutic areas pursued by pharma & biotech, human disease etiology, disease modeling and pharmacology (or physiology) - a contemporary disease generalist.
- Minimum 15 years of experience leading a team.
- Senior management experience with profit and loss (P&L) responsibilities (10 years)
- Experienced in strategic planning and execution. (5 years)
- Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management. (3 years)
- Experienced in developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of business-related processes/procedures terminology and compliance.
- Analytical thinker with the ability to understand problems, determine root cause and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Proficient with advanced skills using of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects, often under tight time constraints.
- Effectively works with peers, leadership, and stakeholders in a productive collaborative environment.
- Ability to understand and comply with confidentiality and privacy rules and protect company property and confidential information.
Preferences
- Master's Degree, preferably in Business Administration.
