The Waterfront Materials Management Engineering (WMME) group is a multidisciplinary engineering team that is embedded within the materials management organization.

The group is responsible for expediting technical resolutions of supplier related problems and developing and driving implementation of process improvements that align with Electric Boat's strategic material availability goals.

The work associated with the group provides experience and visibility to a wide array of the technical, procedural, and business products utilized at Electric Boat. Responsibilities of engineers in the group include problem resolution and technical evaluation of nonconforming conditions, design/ordering requirement error correction, development of technical instructions for suppliers, and support of process/procedural improvements.

Engineers in the group interface with all facets of Electric Boat including design, program office, planning, purchasing, shipyard test, shipyard trades, other engineering departments and organizations, as well as outside material supplier and outside engineering vendors.

Newly hired engineers will be assigned to a mentor for a period to assist in learning the above duties and on the job training will be required.



Qualifications

Required:

    Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Systems, Manufacturing, Civil, Marine, Aeronautical, or Management Engineering preferred)
  • Less than 2 years of engineering experience

Preferred:

  • Internship or Co-op with relevant experience with vendor procured equipment
  • Project or Internship experience demonstrating ability to interact with other groups or organizations in an engineering environment
