This role will support the execution of the end-to-end procurement process for the East Division including North Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. They will improve sourcing activities within the Division by identifying and leading higher complex savings opportunities and supplier operational efficiency initiatives that directly impact the P&L. They will develop and oversee spending plans, integrate sourcing activities with capital, monitor cost savings, conduct supplier performance management, and assess procurement process performance within the Division.

What You'll Do:



  • Coaching Sourcing Specialists: Providing coaching and training to respective sourcing specialists in the region. Provides input into sourcing specialist development plans as needed.
  • Relationship Management: Work with Area Operations Managers, Plants Managers, and VP Operations to set priorities and identify and execute savings efforts that directly impact the cost of sales.
  • Field Visits: Spending quality time at the plants in the assigned area to ensure that the procurement process is being executed and plant managers receive a high level of customer service.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifies opportunities related to procurement to improve operational efficiencies and present those to the Area Ops Managers and VP Operations as needed.
  • Strategic Sourcing: Oversees the execution of the end-to-end procurement process from need identification through contract for regional spend. Able to rectify any issues that may occur. May serve as implementation lead for Enterprise sourcing initiatives.
  • Procurement Operations: Strong understanding of operations parameters and ability to quickly learn and adapt to the Vulcan Way of Operating
  • Best Practice Sharing: Leads frequently share the region's procurement best practices with other regional procurement sourcing leads to ensure opportunities to drive greater consistency and efficiencies across the entire procurement operations team.
  • Spend Management: Responsible for building a vision on how procurement operations performance and provides an annual spend reduction proposal for final approval and incorporation into the overall Division spend management proposal.
  • Supplier Performance Management: Develops supplier scorecards and executes supplier performance management routines with suppliers and applicable internal stakeholders. Ensures supplier performance improves in order to reduce Vulcan's total cost of ownership.

Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:

Education. Must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent field experience.

Experience. A minimum of 5 years' experience in procurement, supply chain or operations position.

Recommended Systems Experience:



  • Thorough understanding of P2P Systems (e.g. Oracle, Jaggaer, etc)
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
