Overview

The calibration technician will apply knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, physics and electronics to effectively plan and perform work to calibrate, troubleshoot and/or repair a variety of Measurement and Test Equipment at the Quonset Point facility. The main responsibility of the calibration technician is to identify and utilize the appropriate calibration procedures to calibrate measurement and test equipment in the electrical, dimensional, physical, and mechanical disciplines to ensure measurement accuracy and functionality of equipment. The calibration technician must be able to identify routine problems, identify solutions and act effectively to correct problems encountered during the calibration process.

This position is located at the North Kingstown, RI location.

Responsibilities of this role include:

    Identify and utilize the appropriate calibration procedures to calibrate measurement and test equipment in the electrical dimensional, physical, and mechanical disciplines to ensure measurement accuracy and functionality of equipment
  • Tracking and maintaining calibration standards and laboratory equipment
  • Performing research on measurement and test equipment and laboratory standards.
  • Contacting and coordinating with vendors, engineering staff, Groton Metrology, and managerial personnel to resolve problems and incorporate modifications and improvements to existing processes.
  • Coordinating with and assisting manufacturing areas in solving problems, fulfilling needs, and supporting production schedules.
  • Performing lab administrative practices


Qualifications

Required:

  • Advanced within Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office Suite and related programs
  • High School/GED
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in a role that required a high level of trust and integrity
  • 2-4 years previous calibration related experience
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and diagrams
  • Must be able to work all shifts, overtime, weekends or an alternate schedule as required to support business need

Preferred:

  • Experience performing calibrations to navy specifications
  • Experience with complex dimensional calibrations


Skills

  • Ability to work effectively in team setting
  • Ability to plan and manage high volume of work
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
