We are looking for a talented and highly motivated Research Assistant interested in computational genomics and bioinformatic research at Boston Children's Hospital. This position will involve writing codes for next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis and quality control, performing statistical analysis, and large-scale genomic data management. As an NIH funded lab as part of the SMaHT (Somatic Mosaicism across Human Tissue) network (https://commonfund.nih.gov/smaht), a newly launching NIH Common Fund consortium, the goal of the Lee lab is to characterize genomic variation and functional change associated with human disease using cutting-edge genomic and computational approaches. This Research Assistant I will be responsible for:

  • Writing codes for quality control and genomic/bioinformatic data analysis.
  • Running computational pipelines on a large set of genomic and transcriptomic data on high-performance computing cluster and Google/Amazon cloud systems.
  • Performing statistical analysis.
  • Performing data coordination and data management tasks.
  • Performing general lab maintenance and administration.

In order to qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computational biology, or other quantitative field.
  • Basic knowledge in molecular biology and statistics.
  • Strong programming skills with script languages (e.g., shell, python, perl, and R).
  • Comfortable working on Linux-based systems.
  • Experience with high-performance computing cluster and cloud systems is preferred.
  • Research experience with next generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis is preferred.
  • Good problem-solving, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
