Job Purpose:

The Measurement Technician works independently to support R&D engineers, scientists, and project teams in the development and analysis of products, materials, processes, and equipment. This role focuses on dimensional measurement methods for manufactured medical device products, including programming and operating advanced measurement systems.


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Prototype Development and Documentation:



    • Develop concepts and construct prototypes/products based on engineering designs.
    • Use mechanical drawing or CAD software to document prototypes and fixtures.



  2. Creative Solutions and Testing:



    • Propose innovative solutions and contribute to design and process concepts.
    • Organize, coordinate, and execute prototype/product building and testing as per engineering instructions.



  3. Specifications and Standards:



    • Assist project teams in establishing specifications and quality standards for products and processes.



  4. Measurement and Metrology Expertise:



    • Develop dimensional measurement methods for medical device products.
    • Create measurement programs for systems like Keyence IM, LM, and Visicon, as well as other tools like SmartScope, CMM (Zeiss, Hexagon), CT Scanners, and Keyence VK, VR, VH, VL, XGX.
    • Develop inspection recipes using best practices, such as datums, pattern matching, and determining when automated versus operator-assisted inspections are optimal.



  5. Data Analysis and Reporting:



    • Analyze measurement results to determine pass/fail dispositions.
    • Sort and analyze data using Microsoft Excel, including calculations (min/max/average), conditional formatting, and pivot tables. Experience with Minitab is a plus.
    • Conduct experiments and GR&R tests, varying process inputs and evaluating outputs.



  6. Resource Coordination:



    • Work with internal resources and external vendors to obtain necessary supplies and services.



  7. Team Support and Communication:



    • Act as a resource to other team members and provide project status updates to teams.




Quality Systems Duties:

  • Build quality into all aspects of work while maintaining compliance with all quality requirements.


Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

  • Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent work experience in a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in metrology or related fields.


Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in developing measurement programs for advanced measurement systems (Keyence IM, LM, Visicon, etc.).
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Excel (pivot tables, conditional formatting) and Minitab.
  • Proficiency with mechanical drawing or CAD software for documentation purposes.


Additional Skills:

  • Experience conducting experiments, including GR&R testing.
  • Team-oriented with strong understanding of measurements and quality standards.
