Additionally, our fuel and convenience division, pharmacy, in-house grocery warehouse and distribution center, in-house Central Bakery, in-house Fresh Foods Commissary, and Tops Cleaners are significant assets to our operations. We also have a handful of other retail entities in the markets where the fit is right: Little Dukes, Ace Hardware, Country Floral Gifts & Greenhouse, Caribou Coffee, Dunn Bros Coffee, and Erbert and Gerbert's.


Overview

Coborn's Inc. is looking for our next Director of Construction, Facilities, and Maintenance to join our growing team! As the new director, you will oversee all construction projects including our upcoming new store build in Plymouth, Minnesota. Additionally, you will oversee the Maintenance, Refrigeration, and Facilities departments to ensure our stores are running safely and effectively.

Additional Duties Include:

  • Lead development and implementation of R&M budget, department projects, and initiatives. Ensure cost-effective allocation of resources. Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising safety or quality.
  • Serve as Director-level contact/liaison for the company with third-party general contractor partners, and service providers for construction and maintenance. Identify, negotiate, select, and coordinate contractors, suppliers, and/or service providers for assigned construction, remodeling, and maintenance repair projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Stay informed about changes in regulations. Update maintenance policies and procedures accordingly and maintain all necessary documentation for government and company purposes.
  • Lead by example to create a culture that engages employees and builds team spirit and morale through recognition, accountability, coaching for talent development, and urgency. Practice effective scheduling to ensure all team members have a satisfactory work-life balance. Partnering with Human Resources to anticipate and recognize staffing needs and hire, develop, and retain top talent. Develop high-performing teams to create and maintain effective succession plans. Train, coach, and mentor on how to drive sales through consistent execution excellence of operational standards, in-store promotional excitement, product knowledge, and guest service.

Maintenance and Refrigeration

  • Develop a maintenance and refrigeration preventative maintenance and service strategy that balances internal work order completion with that of our partners, and considers the company footprint. Place great emphasis on preventative measures and maintenance to prevent costly major events from occurring.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for emergency maintenance, refrigeration, and/or construction. Provide and/or evaluate maintenance plans, including necessity and cost.
  • Provide utility management, overseeing and understanding the company's operation, maintenance, and repair of utility systems; and develop and implement budgets for utility operations, including forecasting future needs and controlling costs to ensure financial efficiency.
  • Monitor and drive the timely completion of work orders, repairs, and preventative maintenance that is identified by the maintenance team and/or store leadership through the Service Channel.
  • Personally lead or partner with expert third parties to design refrigeration systems for facilities and projects, as needed.
  • Serve as company expert on environmental regulations, specifically for refrigeration. Develop the company's preparation plan for the AIM Act.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a refrigeration and power outage plan. Own all applicable systems and serve as a proactive partner to all locations.

Construction

  • Consult with internal and external stakeholders in developing new projects, store layouts, decor packages, project budgets, and scheduling.
  • Oversee construction and remodel projects to ensure timely completion. Monitor adherence to budget, schedule, design, decor, construction codes, and OSHA safety requirements. Take necessary action to remain within budget and schedules, while ensuring compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred and ten years related experience.
  • Experience working with hand tools and small power tools.
