Position Summary

The Director of Sterile Processing is responsible for the strategic planning, daily operations, and services of Sterile Processing Departments to include planning, directing, and coordinating activities involved in the acquisition, decontamination, storage, assembly, cleaning, and sterilization of medical, surgical, and related supplies, materials and equipment utilized in the care and treatment of patients in the assigned region. The Director ensures production is standardized and compliant with the Joint Commission, Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and MultiCare policies and procedures. Hospital-based leaders may have a dual matrixed reporting structure.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Direction: provide strategic leadership to facility sterile processing managers, aligning departmental goals with MultiCare's mission, vision, and values
  • Operational Excellence: develop and manage operational initiatives with measurable outcomes, ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of sterile processing and HLD across the region
  • Change Management: interpret the impact of broad organizational changes and develop effective strategies to ensure successful implementation within Central Sterile Goal Setting and Reporting: collaborate with stakeholders to set objectives, goals, and strategies, and regularly report on progress related to finance, clinical activity, quality, safety, and human resources;

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of applicable experience in lieu of degree may be considered
  • Seven (7) years of related experiencein healthcare sterile processing leadership
  • Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) and Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) are required. Additional certifications such as Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) and Certified Endoscope Reprocessing (CER) are preferred.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $113,963.00 - $164,008.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
