Description
POSITION SUMMARY The Mold Technician will perform mold changes, diagnose, and assist in repair of Molding Presses and all ancillary/auxiliary equipment. In addition, they must be able to communicate effectively with production, and all support groups. They are required to accurately document the work performed and completed. CORE FUNCTIONS
- Perform mold change activities to ensure proper equipment changeovers.
- Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications and in a timely fashion.
- Perform operational procedures to ensure the quality of the product produced.
- Identify the proper tooling required for pending production.
- Inspect the condition of molds and component parts for damage and wear. Inspect machine, conveyer and tools in department and notify Lead that a maintenance repair form is needed, or replacement tools are required.
- Assist other maintenance employees with repairs, PM, installation commissioning and testing of equipment.
- Analyze and resolve all issues related to the equipment.
- Keep all molds/tools in good and safe condition and ensure molds/tools are returned to their appropriate location.
- Ensuring mold is stored in the designated area after the job is completed.
- Recommend, plan, repair, modify, and fabricate any necessary elements following a problem or a project, which may influence the productivity to improve the production equipment, utilities, efficiency, and reliability.
- Assist in maintaining mold locations are up-to-date, mold storage is organized, and mold locations are kept clean.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required.
- Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred.
- Prior experience operating manufacturing and process control equipment required.
- Thermoforming, Injection Mold, or related machine operator experience required.
- 5 years plastic injection molding, electricity, and controls, hydraulic and pneumatic preferred.
- 3 years provincial/industrial mechanic, fabrication preferred.
Required Licenses
- Powered Industrial Truck Certifications preferred (Forklift, Reach Truck, Cherry Picker).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This position is subject to Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Working Conditions
- The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including heat, noise, vibration, and hazards from a production-based environment.
