Summary

Balfour Beatty is in search of a Finance and Accounting Intern for Summer 2025. This individual will work at our Dallas, TX, location and provide quality customer service to both internal and external customers, while improving their knowledge and skills by pursuing continuous improvement of processes and procedures. In addition, the intern will assist finance managers and directors with preparation of Ad-Hoc requests from internal customers and monthly reporting, assist with the vendor address book clean-up initiative, and assist in implementing finance process improvement projects.


Essential Functions

  • Assist in vendor address book clean-up project. Review and analyze address book entries for errors, duplicates, and updates.
  • Build reports and analyze accounts payable data
  • Oversee cash activities, including

    • Reporting daily bank balances
    • Reporting daily cash forecast
    • Reporting North American Cash position on a weekly basis
    • Reporting and Managing US liquidity
    • Provide recommendation for daily cash investing
    • Bank fee analysis and management


  • Assist in opening bank accounts
  • Prepare general accounting reconciliations
  • Participate in certain aspects of general accounting, project teams, division finance and financial reporting including:

    • Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis as needed.
    • Assist in half-year appendix reports on bank accounts, direct debits, and related party payments.




Working Conditions

The majority of work is completed in an office setting with intermittent sitting, standing and walking.

No travel required.


Education, Experience, and Knowledge

  • Working towards degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Ability to organize, use time, and other resources to prioritize multiple activities at once to accomplish desired results.
  • Is full of energy for things that are challenging and enjoys working hard; builds effective relationships and likes to learn from supervisors who have been there before; easily coachable.
  • Provides individuals with timely information needed to do their jobs and make accurate decisions.
  • Exhibits a commitment to solve difficult problems with effective solutions, looks beyond the obvious for effective solutions in order to meet/exceed the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Acts in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values, and the employees while maintaining a constant focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to meet deadlines such as weekly and monthly cutoffs in addition to the daily requirement of managing cash balances and cash activities.
  • Ability to be patient and tolerant with people and processes; listens and checks before acting.
  • Demonstrates an openness to change and can learn quickly when faced with new challenges.
