Content Factory provides an enterprise service which creates and optionally delivers the communication for Clients, Field and HO employees based on their preferences (paper or electronic). This service is built on a contemporary cloud-based platform. To help and guide the collaborative effort, we are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to maintain and improve the Factory Health, Performance and make it robust and dependable system for the future enterprise need.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively discovering the design/implementation issues in the Content Factory and working with other Factory leads to find the mitigation plan and fix for the future.

  • Development, Coaching, Mentoring the team members.

  • Collaborating with Principal Engineer and Other lead engineers to find the design of the solution.

  • Stablishes, aggregates, and shares team standards and best approaches within department.

  • Utilizes working relationships across teams within their division.

  • Assesses and provides solutions to system-wide architectural problems.

  • Overcome results-oriented challenges; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

  • 6-8+ years of professional experience required

  • 5-8+ years of experience leading teams using modern engineering tools, languages, and practices.

  • Financial Services experience in delivering technology solutions for Policy Administration (New Business, Servicing, Claims) systems across Life/Annuity/DI/LTC Insurance Products is preferred.

  • Proven track record of optimally crafting and delivering significant and impactful technology solutions.

  • Experience developing and leading solution delivery using agile methods.

  • Specialist for the organization in one or more technologies.

  • Recognized as the go-to specialist within the division or department.

  • Ability to optimally communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences in varying forms and levels of detail.

  • Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view

  • Strong understanding of design patterns and architecture.

  • Full Stack Engineer with well-rounded skills across front end and server-side programming including DevOps automation and experience with Cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.

Technologies/Skills:

  • Core Programming Skills - NodeJS, JavaScript, Java / Springboot, React / Redux

  • DevOps and Build Automation - GitLab CI/CD, Gradle, Terraform

  • Cloud - AWS (S3, Lambda, RDS, EC2, KMS, IAM)

  • Dockers, Kubernetes

Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start:

$121,030.00

Pay Range - End:

$224,770.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Please note that the salary range listed in the posting is the standard pay structure. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
