National Grid is hiring a Senior Analyst, Process and Performance Improvementfor Massachusetts. This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to one of our locations

Job Purpose

The Analyst will be a member of a dynamic team supporting the Electric Operations organization with analyzing data and activities utilizing Microsoft Office product and SAP BI reporting to provide relevant and up-to-date information to support decision making. This role is expected to provide organized tracking expertise as well as build internal and external relationships to deliver on process and performance improvements.

Key Accountabilities

Data Ownership:

  • Serve as primary point of contact for all matters related to dashboard metrics and analytics.
  • Own several operational and strategic dashboards.
  • Build solutions to help National Grid Electric Operations grow its data-centric culture.

Data Gathering:

  • Collect information on business performance, company needs, and stakeholder needs.
  • Identify, extract, and integrate data sets ranging in size from tables to diverse databases.
  • Discover best methods of assimilating complex data sets from several different sources for use in analyses.

Data Analysis:

  • Perform deep dive analysis on all aspects of the business.
  • Analyze, visualize, and report data using various programming & business intelligence tools.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop Conclusions & Communicate Results:
  • Use data to make recommendations and develop actionable steps.
  • Interpret and summarize data to draw conclusions for managerial action and strategy. Present results to stakeholders in the form of charts, graphs, and reports.
  • Create and produce high quality presentations and other deliverables that effectively capture and communicate qualitative and quantitative content.

Develop Policies:

  • Create data collection and protection procedures and policies.
  • Collaborate with Data Stewards and Data Owners to ensure alignment on data quality and governance.
  • Support and enable the adoption of relevant processes across the operations.

Data Development & Automation:

  • Build tools to automate data collection.
  • Establish single reporting repository to reduce data duplication and quality issues and create a self-service analytic capability for business functions.
  • Identify with stakeholders' new data and reporting needs, providing expertise to business functions to incorporate into existing reporting repository.
  • Develop reports that track milestones and other metrics of initiatives and programs in collaboration with key stakeholders of NE Electric Operations.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Work with Finance business partners, collate and analyze work unit and/or financial data within one or multiple areas using pre-determined tools, methods, and formats to support the department's decision-making process.
  • Review financial information, updating where necessary to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to up to date and accurate information.
  • Execute instructions and requests, plan and organize resources and make proper arrangements to ensure work is carried out efficiently.
  • Manage large team projects including but not limited to project planning, event coordination, and performance tracking.
  • Assist in planning and coordination of department events.

Emergency Response:

  • Respond to weather events to assist team in managing outages and restoration response.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or other relevant fields.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a datacentric role enhancing reports and dashboards required.
  • Knowledge of National Grid's business operations, company policies and practices or working knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation.
  • Experience and strong understanding of financial and operational analysis.
  • Knowledge and experience with advanced analytical tools; Proficient in Microsoft Office product and SAP BI reporting.
  • Background in advanced business/quantitative analytics, data mining/warehousing/modelling.
  • Understanding of project management techniques and methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical knowledge into business terms.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with business stakeholders communicating results, ideas, and recommendations to key decision makers.

Salary - $99,000 - $117,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
