Quality Control Technical Associate

Position Summary:

The purpose of this position is to support day-to-day quality management and supervision of the production area. The Quality Control Technical Associate (QCTA) is responsible for coordinating and completing daily quality reporting for morning meetings and record retention. The QCTA is responsible for confirming equipment and associate operations for quality focus. He/she will confirm equipment daily during pre-shift operations along with quality auditing of associates and equipment to confirm quality expectations. The QCTA will support the Quality Coordinator in daily operations and key quality deliverables. Overtime is required and the expectation is to stay until the job is complete.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assignments may include but are not limited to: (S - Safety, E - Environment, Q - Quality, D - Delivery, M - Morale)
    • S - Enforce all Astemo safety rules and confirm all associates are using the proper PPE
    • S - Support COP (clean, organize and pick up) activities
    • S - Understand the evacuation and shelter procedures for all production lines including alarms
    • S - Assure associates are following department and Astemo rules
    • E - Encourage the reduction of waste
    • E - Use all Astemo recycling practices
    • E - Know QMS (Quality Management System) and ISO (International Organization for Standardization) policies
    • Q - Accurately complete all required check sheets and documentation
    • Q - Support department QMS activity and manage activities to assure compliance
    • Q - Be capable of using all required inspection equipment used (surface tester, gauges, calipers, etc.)
    • Q - Support and develop countermeasures and themes to help achieve quality targets and improvements
    • Q - Support preparation and reporting of department monthly reports
    • Q - Lead and support investigation of quality concerns
    • Q - Issue IPP (Initial Parts Production) tags to track change points as required by Astemo QMS
    • Q - Create quality alerts and abnormal process procedures when necessary
    • Q - Analyze, input, and track internal rejections and direct passes
    • Q - Conduct daily quality checks and report results when requested
    • Q - Support quality training of new associates
    • Q - Support and control department gauge rotation (if applicable)
    • Q - Lead and assist in no good and suspect part containment, including assisting with lot controls and ensure that they are done correctly
    • Q - Review daily tool change sheets to assure proper action is completed
    • Q - Monitor and report on-hold and scrap parts
    • Q - Support or lead quality investigations and data collection
    • Q - Control/audit temporary revision operation standards
    • Q - Perform record retention duties as requested
    • C - Support and develop themes to reduce internal scrap and direct pass
    • D - Track, repair, and control repairs to assure quick return to production
    • D - Complete sort activity to reduce hold parts
    • M - Practice respect for the individual
    • M - Assure communication with Quality Coordinator is timely
    • M - Support associate engagement and awards programs
    • M - Complete company and department required training timely
    • M - Be flexible to work adjusted work hours, including another shift and overtime

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
  • Minimum of 1 year in a quality related role
  • Basic level proficiency with Windows, MS Word
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint (create simple charts, presentations, visual management and data collection)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-year college degree in Business Administration, Management or Organizational Leadership
  • 5P Training (5 Principles of Problem Solving: Define, Identify, Implement, Verify, Feedback/Feed-Forward)

Essential to Job Functions -- Physical and/or Mental Restrictions:

  • Ability to work for long periods of time while standing
  • Standing, walking, and bending for the duration of the workday
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Visual ability to work accurately with detailed information and a computer screen
  • Full motor skills
  • Overtime required

Work Environment -- Travel, Noise, Smells, Quiet, Indoors or Outdoors, etc.

  • Factory setting with noise
