Assists in the tally of equipment volumes as requested especially during capital equipment planning initiatives with departmental leadership team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High School diploma or equivalent required.

2. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support or Heart Saver First Aid within 30 days of hire date.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Prior technologist, equipment handling, or OR clinical practice work experience.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Performs perioperative equipment support activities to assist the nursing team caring for surgical/procedural patients which may include serving as a designated laser operator. Includes handling equipment per manufacturers' IFUs and assisting personnel in obtaining equipment for surgical/procedural cases.

2. Assists in the provision of high quality, cost-effective care by performing delegated equipment handling tasks including storage, end of life record keeping and tracking of incoming/outgoing equipment in designated work areas.

3. Performs assigned tasks as delegated by Director, Manager, RN Service Line Coordinator, and or Charge RN. Assists in the tally of equipment volumes as requested especially during capital equipment planning initiatives with departmental leadership team. Tracks entry of new equipment into departments.

4. May perform Perioperative Services' equipment support activities to assist the Sterile Processing and Supply Chain teams. Retrieves patient care equipment.

5. Reviews OR/procedural schedules to ensure equipment is available for patient care use. Assists with leased equipment by working with equipment vendors.

6. Places or returns cleaned equipment to designated storage locations. Identifies equipment that can be removed from inventory related to non-use.

7. Maintains work environment in operative/procedural areas through the maintenance of egress corridors by monitoring halls keeping them free of extra equipment allowing for easy equipment transportation and the organization of work areas/storerooms.

8. Documents appropriately to foster the work of the department. Monitors the completion of equipment repairs and the preventive checks of loaner equipment prior to clinical use. Works closely with Facilities and Healthcare Technology staff members.

9. Provides respiratory support by properly setting up equipment needed for oxygen administration including the changing of tank regulators and checking of tank volumes.

10. Follows all departmental policies and procedures including the reporting of equipment/room repairs to appropriate persons in a timely manner. Performs tagging of equipment and pulls equipment out of service as necessary to promote patient/employee safety.

11. Assists in routine unit operations including maintenance of departmental cleanliness and organization as directed/needed to ensure smooth functioning of the unit.

12. Relays accurate telephone, visitor, patient, and healthcare provider messages to appropriate persons in a timely manner.

13. Assists with room equipment set-up. May monitor sterile field set-up when directed by surgical team.

14. Assists team by performing clerical duties in designated areas.

15. Meets with equipment vendors and coordinates equipment trials as delegated by OR Leadership Team. May distribute and collect equipment trial user surveys.

1. Must be physically capable of prolonged periods of standing and walking.

2. No known history or malignant hyperthermia (may not be waived).

3. Must be capable of lifting up to 60 pounds and pushing heavy loaded carts weighing more than 200 pounds. Able to transport equipment.

4. Must possess visual and hearing acuity along with manual dexterity and technical ability.

5. Demonstrates ability to utilize PPE and equipment transfer devices.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Must understand and practice excellent personal hygiene

2. Must be able to operate computer program with training.

3. Must have ability to follow directions both written and verbal (i.e., proficient reading and writing English language), and work with people.

4. Demonstrates team-building communications and work efforts to assist healthcare providers.

5. Demonstrates skills needed to utilize and maintain Safe Patient Handling equipment.
