Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Lead Automation Engineer with a strong expertise in test automation development and execution. This role is critical in evaluating and refining our testing processes to ensure optimal tool utilization and efficiency.

You will manage a small team of engineers, overseeing planning, development, and providing mentorship to promote best practices. This role requires effective communication and collaboration with business, QA, and engineering teams, ensuring alignment across departments and contributing to technology decision-making and work delegation.

A Day in the life:

  • Leads a small team of automation engineers, contributing to automated testing efforts for both internal and external business software.

  • Designs, develops, and maintains robust automated testing frameworks and scripts, adapting to various application types.

  • Collaborates closely with technical and product leaders to ensure a clear understanding of requirements, objectives, and project direction.

  • Proactively identifies and addresses requirement issues, such as lack of clarity, inconsistencies, or technical constraints, and communicates these effectively to relevant stakeholders.

  • Prioritizes and delegates tasks effectively, ensuring efficient team workflow and goal achievement.

  • Mentors team members, fostering best practices in test automation and supporting skill development.

  • Conducts thorough code reviews, ensuring solutions make appropriate trade-offs, address core issues, and integrate effectively into the overall codebase.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • 5+ years of experience in test automation engineering, strong preference to Cypress.

  • Experience leading a team of test automation engineers.

  • Experience identifying and implementing improvements in testing practices, frameworks, and tools, driving innovation and efficiency in automated testing processes.

  • In-depth knowledge of automated testing for user interfaces, APIs, and load/performance scenarios, ensuring robust validation of application functionality and resilience under varying loads.

  • Basic knowledge of microservices and inter-application dependencies.

  • Proficient in industry-standard testing practices, including effective test design, framework structuring, and test data management, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.

  • Skilled in one or more programming languages.

  • Strong familiarity with CI/CD.
