Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
The Instructional Technologist provides consultation, support, and training to online and instructional technology-based users. Utilizing their knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of academic technologies is necessary to effectively support the diverse range of users' technical and pedagogical needs.
- Develops training materials for instructional technology solutions and emerging technologies related to online and hybrid learning.
- Resolves problems based on existing documentation, training, resources, etc. Solicits relevant information from faculty in order to communicate potential solutions.
- Evaluates emerging technology solutions for online and hybrid teaching. Analyzes gaps in current technology-related processes and communicating them to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Manages issues related to instructional technology solutions. These could include Canvas, Zoom, Echo 360, Respondus, VoiceThread, Rev/3PlayMedia, and others as assigned.
- Partners with faculty, DEeL staff, and ITS staff.
- Determines client needs and effectively communicates potential solutions depending on the request.
- Administers multimedia and graphic design projects. These could include video production, graphic/infographic creation, web-based authoring tools such as Storyline or Articulate, and others as assigned.
- Manages social media and communication practices. This could include report generation, data visualization, social media management, marketing templates, instructional templates, and others as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Graduation from high school and one year in the field of technology related to the positions' role. Computer coursework may be substituted year for year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
Preferred education, professional skills and experience |
- Bachelor and/or Master's Degree in Instructional Technology, Education, or related field.
- Ability to quickly and independently learn new software, hardware, and various web applications.
- Proficient in Canvas learning management systems and other related instructional technologies.
- Knowledge of communication and/or marketing principles and practices.
- Versed in Social Media Technologies.
- Experience with project management and productivity monitoring strategies
- Ability to create, maintain, and evaluate job aids and resources for faculty consumption.
- Knowledge of basic technology principles and terminology associated with the work unit.
- Knowledge of basic troubleshooting techniques and principles.
- Ability to apply various troubleshooting techniques while using multiple types of software, web applications, and hardware.
- Certification in project management, quality matters, and/or teaching with technology.
