The Loan Management team is a business unit within the Global Markets Division, primarily supporting the Mortgage Loan Trading and Structured Finance desks. The team is a multi-faceted diligence and asset management platform specializing in whole loan acquisition, sales, securitizations, and financing opportunities. The Loan Management team has product expertise across mortgages, consumer loans, real estate and warehouse financing.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Loan Management is seeking an Associate that will assist the Transaction Management team in facilitating due diligence (at both the trade and asset levels) of residential backed portfolios for acquisitions, sales and securitizations. This role requires expertise in residential mortgage title processes, including resolving complex title issues such as, Municipal Code Violations, DQ HOA, DQ Taxes, Municipal Liens, Partial Interest Challenges, and title policy analysis. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of super lien states, statutes impacting mortgage lien positions, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while delivering accurate and timely results.

Responsibilities include:



  • Product Ordering and Vendor Oversight: Oversee third-party title vendors to ensure they respond and complete or provide the appropriate reporting and documentation to support the transaction within the required timeframes
  • Title Review & Resolution: Analyze residential mortgage title reports to identify and resolve title issues, such as liens, encumbrances, defects, municipal/code violations, and ownership discrepancies
  • Super Lien State Expertise: Monitor and address title-related risks in super lien states, staying informed on statutes and legal precedents impacting mortgage lien positions
  • Municipal & Code Violations: Research, assess, and resolve issues related to municipal and code violations that could impact property value or mortgage enforceability
  • Partial Release & Interest Issues: Review and manage cases involving partial mortgage releases, partial interest scenarios, and their implications for lien positions and marketability
  • Title Policy Analysis: Evaluate title policies to ensure proper coverage, identify gaps, and address exclusions that could affect lien position or loan integrity
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with transaction managers, collateral SMEs, mortgage servicers, and external vendors to resolve title-related matters and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Capital Markets Support: Assist in preparing clear title documentation for loan sales, securitizations, and portfolio transfers to support capital markets activities
  • Research & Compliance: Stay up to date on state/jurisdiction-specific statutes, municipal regulations, and industry standards affecting mortgage lien positions and title practices
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of title reviews, resolutions, communications, and budgets, providing detailed reports to internal and external stakeholders



Qualifications:



  • 3+ years of experience in residential mortgage title work, with a focus on lien position analysis
  • Strong understanding of title issues, paths to resolution
  • Familiarity with municipal codes, violations, and regulatory frameworks that impact property titles
  • Experience with capital markets, loan securitization, or mortgage servicing operations
  • Must have ability to function in a fast-paced environment, manage deadlines with minimum supervision and the ability to work under tight time constraints and extended hours as required
  • Possess excellent time management, analytical and organizational skills with a keen eye toward attention to detail
  • Ability to organize, analyze and interpret legal and compliance related materials
  • Strong self-confidence, good judgment, and sound problem-solving skills
  • Advanced proficiencies in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in coordinating interaction with internal/external clients, third-party vendor partners, other departmental and divisional teams, and senior managers
