Shipping Supervisor

The Shipping Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the shipping department within a warehouse, ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment. You will manage inventory, supervising staff, coordinating shipments, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards to meet delivery goals. You will work onsite in Lake Charles, LA and report to the Production Area Manager. This is a rotating day and night schedule.

Main Responsibilities:

• Oversee and train employees to safely pack and ship materials.
• Assign tasks, monitor employee performance, and address disciplinary issues.
• Conduct regular cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory levels.
• Monitor stock levels to avoid shortages and optimize warehouse space.
• Oversee loading and unloading of trucks, ensuring proper handling and prevention of damage.
• Monitor carrier performance and address shipping delays.
• Coordinate delivery schedules with transportation providers.
• Enforce safety protocols and conduct regular safety inspections.
• Ensure compliance with shipping regulations and documentation requirements.
• Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for shipping efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with departments to identify and implement logistics improvements.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience supervising an hourly workforce or 5 years of experience in a shipping/warehouse, transportation, or logistics environment.
• Experience in a unionized manufacturing setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of inventory management principles.
• Proficiency in computer applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work with all employee levels, including executive management.
