Who We Are

We are Tennis! The USTA (United States Tennis Association) is the national governing body for the sport of tennis and the leader in promoting and developing the sport's growth on every level in the United States, from local communities to the crown jewel of the professional game, the US Open.

The Role

This is an 8-week program from June 10th through August 13th.

Working hours: Monday-Thursday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST

Hybrid schedule: Must be capable to work on-site 3-4 days per week at the National Tennis Center.

Hourly rate: $20.00

The NTC Event Services Intern will work with the Event Services team in support of all front and back of house operations in preparation for the 2025 US Open. Candidate should be hands on, open minded and a team player. Previous event operations experience preferred.

National Tennis Center Site Preparation

    Assist in inventory of all wayfinding signage for the US Open
  • Collaborate with Facility Operations to ensure all guest-facing areas and prepped and ready for the event
  • Update and monitor all Guest Services supply inventory and communicate re-order needs as appropriate
  • Facilitate deployment of all turnstiles, crowd control barriers, guard shacks, etc.
  • In collaboration with HR and the Event Services team, coordinate radio rental needs for event
  • Assist Manager, Event Operations in the delivery and placement of all ancillary structures
  • Work with Finance and Events teams to set up all Baggage structures in advance of event

US Open Event Operations

  • Coordinate with vendors and staff to ensure all rental units are serviced on a regular basis throughout the event
  • Facilitate the deployment of all parking, police,rideshare, and wayfinding signage for the 2024 US Open
  • Perform daily site walks to assess any corrective measures and report issues as needed
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments including Broadcast, Partnership Marketing, Tournament Operations, and others to ensure all facility-related needs are met
  • Provide support to all Event Operations sub-groups as needed including Events, Beverage, Loading Dock, and Graphics team as necessary
  • Assist seasonal Events Team in event set-ups and breakdowns
  • Assist with post-event reconciliation

US Open Guest Services Team

  • Work with Manager, Community Relations and Events, and NTC HR to ensure frontline team members have vital resources daily
  • Understand all Guest Services Team Member functions and be ready to fulfill any role as needed throughout the tournament (ticket taking, at-capacity situations, etc)
  • Ensure daily tasks for the Guest Services Team (re-entry stamps, beverage orders, etc.) are completed
  • Participate in Guest Services training development meetings and provide support as vital
  • Provide operational support for US Open Guest Services Training sessions as needed
  • Provide support for all non-US Open Events
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Strong work ethic, team-oriented demeanor, and passion about supplying to the success of the events
  • Tech Savvy with proficient digital literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, Google Suite)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work long and consecutive days
  • Must have a "hands-on" approach and be willing and able to perform physical tasks as needed (signage deployment, beverage deliveries, event set-ups)
