Here's what you'd do: As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will interact with other team members representing a wide range of disciplines to develop complex Electro-Optical Systems. You will work with customers to define system requirements and operating concepts, develop the systems architecture to meet the requirements, and guide the design team to execute the systems architecture. Interface with Customers and Stakeholders to understand their needs and constraints and review customer specifications and requirements Generate consistent, complete, correct, and operationally defined highest level system requirements, including cost requirements Perform trade studies, performance analysis, and cost-benefit analyses to determine the best means to meet the system requirements Partition the system into subsystems and components, and document component and subsystem specifications and material requirements Leads design engineers to ensure a robust implementation of the system architecture that meets schedule, cost, and performance requirements Prepare and present proposals, technical reports, position papers, and reviews (both internal and external) as needed Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians and support personnel to coordinate, recommend and confer regarding technical activities and progress. Here's what you'll get: Pay: $100/hour - $130/hour Hours: 1 ^st Shift 9/80 8:00am-5:00pm (every other Friday off) Position is hybrid on site (Tuesday through Thursday). Job Requirements Here's what requirements you'll need: Master of Science Degree in Physics or Engineering (BS Degree in Physics or Engineering is acceptable with additional years of relevant experience) 10 years minimum experience including 5 years minimum as a System Engineer and/or Systems Architect Minimum 5 years' experience in electro-optical system design for high-performance imaging systems Minimum 5 years' experience in testing of electro-optical systems ranging from visible through long wave infrared Minimum 5 years' experience Integration of multi-sensor payloads including allocation of manufacturing tolerances for design for manufacturability Minimum 5 years' experience with performance modeling for electro-optical systems Minimum 5 years' experience working/understanding of mechanical, electrical, and optical designs and components, and their interactions in visual and infrared imaging systems Here's what sets you apart from other candidates that our clients prefer: Strong technical writing skills for reports, proposals, and technical specifications Understanding of infrared detector materials, and device operation and modeling Understanding of optical materials and fabrication techniques, including optical coatings Familiarity with optical test and characterization equipment Familiarity with infrared lasers, with emphasis on those used for rangefinders and target designators Ability to understand and review component and system level drawings Familiarity with modeling software like NV-IPM, NVTherm and Modtran Familiarity with DOORS Additional Information: Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check and a drug screen In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
