Position Overview

Riverside Research is seeking a highly technical individual with the capability to communicate effectively to fill the role of Senior Systems Administrator. In this position, a successful candidate will leverage their extensive knowledge of information technology to adapt an existing complex and secure IT infrastructure to support modular, compartmentalized operations supporting cutting-edge research and development (R&D) activities within a dynamic and collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with R&D teams, information security personnel, and other Information Technology professionals to facilitate the evolution of critical systems and applications.



Responsibilities

    Collaborate with the various research and development groups, information security personnel, and other stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain multiple distributed networks that directly support critical research and development activities
  • Effectively communicate and engage with the different functional areas of information technology to facilitate the design and implementation of the distributed networks
  • Leverage infrastructure automation tools to facilitate repeatable deployment processes and leverage service inheritance whenever possible
  • Participate in data gathering exercises related to each specific R&D activity to understand their unique requirements and mold those requirements into executable tasks to build an environment that meets their needs
  • Work closely with information security personnel to ensure compliance with all relevant DoD security policies and regulations (NIST 800-171)
  • Participate in weekly project planning meetings and provide status updates during the development phase of implementation
  • Maintain working relationship with each R&D group to ensure their requirements are being met and coordinate any changes with information security and other stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in systems administration or related field
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, security best practices, and system administration principles
  • Ability to manage time independently without direct supervision
  • Excellent written, verbal, and inter-personal communications skills
  • Proficient in delivering on multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving characteristics and the ability to independently identify, research, and resolve problems and as part of a team
  • Possess a strong work ethic and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with network security best practices and technologies
  • Experience with virtualization technologies
  • Knowledge of modern enterprise-scale IT environments
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux Operating system management in an enterprise context
  • DoD 8140 (451) Systems Admin - Intermediate Certification (Security+ or Equivalent)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an information technology or a related field with at least eight (8) years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, six (6) years with a Master's degree, a PhD with three (3) years' experience, or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols
  • Understanding of enterprise authentication methods (AD, EntraID, ADFS, SAML)
  • Understanding of cloud service and deployment models and shared responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, etc.)
  • Experience in regulated industries (i.e. Defense, Finance, Healthcare, Telecommunications)
  • Familiarity with FAR/DFARS requirements pertaining FCI, CDI, CUI, & CMMC
  • Working experience with IT or cybersecurity risk & control frameworks (CMMC, NIST CSF, NIST RMF, PCI-DSS, FedRAMP, etc.)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance


Global Comp

$90,000- $140,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
