The Data Engineer provides critical data related systems and support to enable efficiency and business insights by analyzing organizational data needs and producing effective database systems to address those needs; developing, testing, enhancing, and maintaining new and existing databases; enabling users to effectively retrieve data with enterprise reporting or business intelligence applications; collaborating to provide relevant support, analysis and insights to all areas of the Association.

Responsibilities/Duties
Data Modeling, Movement and Quality
- Uses critical thinking and robust analysis skills to evaluate, recommend and implement enterprise data and database solutions
- Reviews current database systems to identify opportunities to enhance data collection, organization and utilization
- Designs infrastructure for scalability, optimizing data delivery and automating manual processes
- Collaborates with applicable team members to enable accurate and efficient enterprise reporting
- Supports the integration of enterprise data into applicable business intelligence applications
- Prepares data for prescriptive and predictive modeling
- Translates data findings into actionable recommendations and improvements
- Coordinates with leadership and key internal stakeholders to set enterprise data strategy
- Utilizes industry expertise to consult on data-related processes and projects
- Identifies opportunities and develops solutions to enhance quality and efficiency
- Reviews, revises, and creates departmental processes as needed
Data Governance & Analytics
- Serves as the organization's Subject Matter Expert for enterprise data and database structure
- Develops processes to enhance data quality and reliability
- Designs and maintains programs that support the Association's data quality, lineage and certification
- Develops and monitors compliance with the organization's data strategy and data management policies
- Leverages a range of tools to implement the capture, integration, and sharing of master data management (MDM) information
Other Projects
- Participates on internal committees to participate in research, development, and implementation of special programs and/or initiatives and provide recommendations
- Takes initiative to develop skillsets or knowledge surrounding topics and best practices that may arise and become critical to the position's responsibilities.

Association Liaison
- Serves as a liaison with third parties, including but not limited to other Farm Credit institutions, service providers/vendors, and collaborative partners on data acquisition projects
- Robust knowledge of and meaningful experience with database management systems; preferably Microsoft SQL Server, Azure and SSIS.
- Strong ability to analyze available data and then develop and implement data migration/conversion plans and objects.
- Proven ability to write complex SQL queries
- Experience in programming languages such as Python, SAS, R
- Experience with business Intelligence applications such as Power BI
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, included Pivot tables and Power Query
- Skill in oral and written communication sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, management, other System contacts and a variety of audiences
- Skill in establishing and maintaining relationships with a variety of internal and external organizations and individuals to advance the organization's interests and increase personal efficacy
- Ability to complete work in an acceptable timeframe; manage a variety of detailed tasks and responsibilities simultaneously and with accuracy to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives; satisfy internal and external customer needs related to the job
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as work independently, determining priorities
- Ability to work in a changing environment and adapt accordingly
Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, statistics, software engineering or related fieldandat least 3+ years progressive responsibility in database development, database administration, database architecture, data management, data mining and statistical analysis and/or related area. Or an equivalent combination of education, experience and skill set sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
Role oriented certification preferred
