Qualifications

Required Qualifications
* M.Sc. or higher degree in Food Science or related field
* Must have experience in Cereal Science and Technology
* Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and statistical tools
* Experience in applying knowledge and skills to recurring tasks, with emphasis on precision and timeliness
* Must be able to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
* Must have excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills
* Must have excellent interpersonal skills
About the Position
Position is temporary for six months, based on performance and availability of funds.
Responsibilities:
* Design and execute scientific experiments in cereal quality testing, especially on Intermediate Wheatgrass, starch structure and cold plasma technology

* Perform data analysis including statistical analysis, interpreted and summarize results.

* Operate lab equipment such the farinograph, FTIR, HPLC, gluten peak tester, proofer and baking oven.

* Keep detailed records of all experiments in laboratory notebooks, databases, spreadsheets and web-based applications.

* Help monitor and train undergraduate student workers and other team members.

* Ensure compliance with safety, and regulatory reporting requirements

* Conduct background literature search on relevant topics

* Prepare scientific manuscript for submission to peer reviewed journals

About the Department

Program/Unit Description: Position will be in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, CFANS, University of Minnesota under the supervision of Dr. George Annor.

Pay Range: $56,160 depending on education/qualifications/experience
