** This is a 2 year benefits eligible, Contract position from date of hire. **
** This is a hybrid work model role. **
The Performance Management and Talent Development Strategist independently uses and applies wide-ranging experience and proficiency in organizational development, effectiveness, business process analysis and strategic planning on performance management projects that typically have organization-wide impact. Understands business needs and how systems, both technical and non-technical, can support those needs. Having wide-ranging experience, uses organizational development concepts and organization objectives to resolve the most complex issues with organization-wide impact or great political sensitivity, where analysis of circumstances and information requires an in-depth evaluation of factors. Exercises judgment in selecting performance management methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Internal and external contacts often pertain to organization plans and objectives. Is considered a subject matter expert of performance management and often recognized as an expert externally in the industry.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $164,400 - $253,300 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

UCSF Learning & Organization Development Department oversees the creation and implementation of learning solutions for all UCSF staff, managers and executives, as well some faculty who perform operational roles or impact operational processes. Our purpose is to lead talent development strategies which inspire professional excellence and attract, develop, and retain outstanding & diverse people, who together advance health worldwide.

The key services that our department provides to individual learners, departments and organization's executives are:

  • Staff and leadership development
  • Workforce Development
  • Organization development, effectiveness and change management
  • Staff Engagement Resources
  • Learning Management System Administration
  • E-Course development
  • Performance Management

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Requires 7 years related experience with background in both leadership development and talent management
  • Expert knowledge of the organizational development and effectiveness field, theories, models to assess, design and implement customized performance management, talent development and succession planning interventions
  • Demonstrates superior analytical, problem-solving, project planning and implementation skills.
  • Have superior written, verbal and presentation skills for influencing and facilitating sustained change.
  • Possesses superior consulting, relationship building, and strategic thinking skills. Required
  • Demonstrates superior strategic-thinking and consulting skills in guiding the organization toward workable strategies and solutions
  • Ability to facilitate and influence people at all levels. Ability to persuade through both logic and appeal to positive motivations. Ability to handle multiple constituencies, agendas, engagements and tasks, and to deal productively with ambiguity and conflict
  • Demonstrates ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize and generalize based on information obtained; sound judgment; ability to draw unbiased conclusions
  • Ability to focus on priorities, strategies, and vision
  • Knowledge of the consulting process to effectively lead highly significant engagements from inception to conclusion
  • Incorporates excellent skills in change management programs on a regular basis
  • Highly skilled in navigating organizational complexity

  • Advanced degree
  • Coaching Certification
  • Knowledge of the organizational environment of a large academic medical center to understand client priorities, issues, motivations and constraints
