Aircraft Technology, Inc., (ATI), a subsidiary of HEICO Corporation, is an FAA/EASA Part 145 Repair Station. ATI supports a wide range of rotary and fixed wing components found on both commercial and military platforms around the world.

The Engineering Intern will lend engineering support to current production tasks, quality assurance, resource allocation, database maintenance and updates, process improvement initiatives, project analysis, design and implementation, as well as assist in ongoing workflows for engineering projects.

This internship will take place startingMonday, May 19, 2025 till Friday, August 15, 2025.

Applications will be accepted between December 23, 2024 till January 31, 2025.

The format of this internship will be in person, full-time 40 hours per week. Monday- Friday during normal business hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Receive training and access to engineering technical information.
  • Receive process routing, data cards, dimension inspect sheet to develop or revise using the knowledge of engineering technical information under supervision.
  • Receive an introduction to company products, services, department heads; set-up of workstation and computer access, safety training, as well as familiarization with engineering and production processes, tools, procedures, and test systems.
  • Assist in the design tooling (drawing) and fixtures to repair products, fusion and resistance welding for aerospace applications, bearing installation and retention, cut threads, drilling, milling, reaming and turning process.
  • Gain practical experience in methods/strategies of production engineering.
  • Gain an improved understanding of the technical mentality
  • Learn how internal/external factors interact and contribute to a manufacturer's growth and productivity.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

EDUCATION:



  • At least one year towards a BS in Mechanical, Aerospace or similar Engineering Degree.



EXPERIENCE:



  • Employment, school or personal experience involving mechanical aptitude preferred (machine shop, auto repair, etc.).



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES:



  • Language/Communication: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general relevant periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, technical drawings (blueprints) or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Computer Skills: Basic Microsoft Office -- moderate proficiency especially with MS Excel. Ability to prepare 3D drawing -- moderate proficiency especially with AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Mathematical Skills: Commensurate with college engineering.
  • Reasoning Abilities: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, strict attention to details and ability to multitask and prioritize as necessary, with minimal supervisory direction. Must be flexible in handling multiple tasks. Understanding the need for urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Must be able to work in a team environment and independently.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position will work primarily in an office environment with low noise level, but may have some exposure to the manufacturing floor which has mid to high noise level with exposure to manufacturing machinery / equipment/chemicals. Occasional travel to industrial locations including aircraft and hangars.
