Overview of the Position:

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer will define the team's business intelligence (BI) vision, strategy, and best practices. The position will lead the design, implementation, and delivery of high impact BI solutions for a fast-growing environment with limited guidance. Business partner with internal stakeholders to define, plan, and build complex analytical solutions to inform sales performance, inventory management, operational metrics, and more. This position will also translate strategic and operational data needs of multiple business units into the necessary data models, ETL pipelines, reports, and visualizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Collaborate with functional leads to design, develop, and maintain complex visualizations to monitor and report business performance metrics.
  • Work with business users to understand their data needs, gather requirements, and ensure the developed reports & dashboards align with business objectives.
  • Clean, manipulate & transform raw data from various ERP sources to prepare for analysis & calculations within Power BI & SSRS.
  • Implement data governance best practices to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with security and privacy regulations.
  • Implement data security measures within Power BI to control access to sensitive information.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve data quality, performance, and usability of existing dashboards and reports.
  • Design & build dynamic reports with custom visualizations, filters & calculations using DAX expressions.
  • Optimize data models, calculations and data loads to ensure efficient report loading, timely deliver and responsiveness.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to stakeholders in leveraging dashboards and data insights to enhance decision-making processes related to security.

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs.
  • Demonstrated ability managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership.
  • Effective communication skills, written and verbal including collaboration skills.
  • Advanced critical thinking ability, comfortable solving problems routinely with attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, with expertise in writing complex queries, optimizing query performance, and tuning database operations for large-scale datasets.
  • Experience building semantic models, reports, dashboard and app deployment using Power BI.
  • Strong working knowledge of Azure, SharePoint and related applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience designing and managing RLS
  • Certificates in relevant technologies (ie. Power BI)

Education / Experience Requirements: 10+ years of professional experience required. Must have 7+ yrs of SQL & SSMS experience; 7+ yrs of Power BI, DAX, and SSRS development experience; 7+ yrs of experience developing and managing data migrations utilizing SSIS.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
